*****Round 2 Results*****
shark_bait defeats Xenoman 4-1-0

Game 1

Key Cards - Walled Village, Torturer, Nobles, Masquerade, Upgrade

This was a really fun set to play.  It had all the makings of a Torturer slog-fest with some of the best counters.  The main difference between my opponent and myself was that I focused solely on getting the Torturer chain running by purchasing Walled Village/Torturer.  I also threw in an Upgrade after my first 2 Torturers.  Xenoman decided to pick up a Baron with one of his early 4's and that was the difference.  His Torturer chain took a bit longer to get up and running and I am able to affect his deck before the Curses run.  I picked up a couple of insurance Provinces and then worked on 3-piling.

shark_bait win 26 to 8

Game 2

Key Cards - Spice Merchant, Ambassador, Native Village, Margrave, Grand Market, Possession

If there is a lesson to be learned from this game, it is never give up.  I make the mistake of going Haggler on my first $5 instead of Margrave.  I then proceed to lose the Ambassador war.  Xenoman is picking up Grand Markets left and right and starts whittling down the Provinces.  At that point I was so close to just resigning but I decided to play it out and hope for a Miracle.  I slowly claw my way through my junk and pick up a Grand Market of my own.  I then hit the jackpot and got my first Possession.  The turning point was on turn 18 shown below.  I manage to put 2 Provinces back into the supply and purchase 2 of them with his turn for 5 Province swing!

Code: [Select]
Xenoman plays an Ambassador.
... Xenoman reveals a Province.
... returning 2 copies to the supply.
... shark_bait gains a Province.
Xenoman plays a Gold.
Xenoman buys a Province.

... shark_bait gains the Province.
Xenoman buys a Province.
... gaining a Margrave.
... ... shark_bait gains the Margrave.
... shark_bait gains the Province.

shark_bait wins 39 to 24

Game 3

Key Cards - Ghost Ship, Wishing Well, Oasis

We might have a record with this game.  In a game which ends on Provinces and no curses being given, the first Province was not bought until Turn 20!  This game was just a pure Ghost Ship slog in which the Supply pile was emptied.  I used Wishing Well to effectively counter his ships while he went for Oasis.  I think that is the big difference between our decks.  There is one very important thing about this match that I want to bring up.  When do you buy an Estate with 4 Provinces left in the supply when Ghost Ships are being played pretty much every turn?  You buy that Estate when there is no plus buy and you are at the start of your deck and you want that tiebreaking VP.  On Turn 26 I picked up an Estate which allowed me to finagle a narrow victory.

shark_bait wins 28 to 27

Game 4

Key Cards - Scrying Pool, Goons, Upgrade, Throne Room, Oasis

I get completely shellacked in this game.  Both of us had a similar plan but a combination of good draws as well as better play came out on top.  With identical start and a 5/2.  Both of us get an Upgrade.  Though we have the same deck, Xenoman gets a 2nd upgrade on our second pass through our deck.  When I finally get above $5, I panic and instead of going Upgrade, get a Goons.  Xenoman's more sleak deck easily cruises to victory and I am left in the dust.

Xenoman wins 68 to 1

Game 5

Key Cards - Ghost Ship, Menagerie, Black Market, Courtyard, Loan

Another game with Ghost Ship and thankfully for us, we've got a counter in Menagerie.  Both of us open Black Market because well, Sea Hag is in it.  Other goodies included JoaT, Chapel, Fishing Village, Governor (and a few others I can't remember).  We both play extremely similar strategies; Ghost Ship with $5, Gold with $6.  After our first or second Silver we both started grabbing Menagerie.  I am able to pick up JoaT and Fishing Village from the Black Market while Xenoman gets Governor/Nobles.  It's a pretty close game all throughout and his Governor scares me because he's got a lean deck due to Loan trashing with a fair amount of Gold.  He definitely had potential for a double Province Turn.  So when he plays his Governor trashing a Gold for Province, I ditch my JoaT for a Duchy ensuring a tie if he manages to double Province.  Shortly after that turn I am able to snag the last Province for the victory.

shark_bait wins 38 to 26

Thanks to Xenoman for a fun series!

I decline to play in veto mode and instead we opt for targeted bans.  We mutually agree to play with the following cards prohibited: Ill-Gotten Gains, Minion, Possession, Swindler, Tournament.

Game 1:  Obi

I have to pry my hand off black market.  I remarked during this game that BM is my biggest sucker card.  I have no doubt that if this were just a normal game I would have bought black market 100% and won like 25% of those very rewarding games.  Instead we both play pretty standard big money.  He opts for a gold/masq turns 3-4  against my margrave/silver.

Game 2:  Obi

I use talisman to secure 7/3 villages into a bunch of grand markets.  Not without a few blunders though.

Game 3:  Obi

Black Market makes another appearance and I cant layoff this time, though he does.  It comes down to a very close finish.  I bought maybe the dumbest ambassador in the world!  Felt like I snuck this one out.

Game 4: Nixon

I never really knew what I was doing here.  I had planned on moving into golems but then got it into my head I could outrace him.  Really goofy finish.  He deserved this one.

Game :  Nixon

A couple beautiful steward/nothing openings.  I didnt count very well in this game and kind of threw it away.  Though he played well and Im not sure I win either way.

Game 6:  Obi

My potion/courtyard outpaces his seahag/silver.  He invested a lot to win the curse split, which he did 6/4 but I as able to capitalize in other areas in the meantime.

Good games Mr. Nixon.  You played well and I was legitimately worried after dropping two games.  I will have to play better if I hope to win this thing.

andwilk 4-1 zaubererer

We played in veto mode, point tracker off, all players get identical starting hands.

Game 1: zaubererer 25-29 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-085726-9e3962cd.html)
This was my comeback special of the set.  We both open with an Ironworks (our choice of first treasure is different, I choose Silver to his Fool's Gold) to get the Great Halls off the board.  My IW falls to turn 5 and I start to fall behind.  We split GHs, but I lose the Fool's Gold split 8-2 (admittedly I just gave up on them).  Now that two piles are gone, he starts to piledrive the Duchies in an attempt to pile out the game.  If I join in, I will lose so my only chance is to build a Walled Village/Rabble engine and build up to Colonies.  This is successful, as my last two turns result in Colonies and I eke out the comeback win.

Game 2: zaubererer 67-69 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-090739-4ade509d.html)
A Minion race with Colonies.  I feel it is very important to reach $5 here so I open a $5-friendly Mining Village/Silver to his Bishop/Courtyard.  I don't invest in a Bishop and just allow it to thin my deck and ignore the VPs it is giving him figuring in a Colony game they won't matter as much.  I win the Minion split 6-4 and actually have a much thinner deck due to his investment into Tunnels which gained him quite a few Golds.  In the end, he miscounted points and bought the penultimate Colony, which allowed me to grab the final Colony for another close win.

Game 3: zaubererer 18-44 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-091706-2df8c22f.html)
KC/Hunting Party/Horn of Plenty Megaturn game.  We are building toward the same goal here and I feel that I am going to run out of time due to his first turn advantage, however, his last turn ends up being a suboptimal draw and allows me to pop the megaturn first.  I'll chalk this one up to luck.

Game 4: zaubererer 46-34 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-092853-bfeddd04.html)
I learn a harsh lesson on the diminishing returns of Apothecaries.  Using them and some virtual money (Vault/Salvager), I thought I would hum along nicely.  However, I overinvest in Apothecaries (I buy 8 of them) and my economy isn't what I thought it would be.  His more straightforward Big Money deck outlasts mine in the end.

Game 5: andwilk 27-24 zaubererer (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-093547-f24ba147.html)
A Vineyard game where my Highways make the difference in gathering more action cards (I buy 18 to his 15).  I was probably a little lucky to split the Vineyards since he invested in Potion first and was ahead in the count until I bought the final one to even it up.

Overall, an awesome and very enjoyable series.  Each game was very interesting, we both got to play with our preferred settings and lots of fun decisions within each game.  Thanks for the match zaubererer!  I'm sure we'll be seeing each other on automatch soon.

Round 2 : gamesou beats Buggy 4-1-2 after some thrilling games

GAME 1 : gamesou 40 - Buggy 38

This game was thrilling, Buggy was ahead for a long time, but I pulled a tournament out of the Black Market deck, and the two curses given by Followers made the difference since we ultimately had the same share of victory cards.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-091549-de3cd3f8.html

GAME 2 : gamesou 40 - Buggy 29

Watchtower/Mountebank/Colonies. A strange game were I embargo Golds early, and buy Caches instead. Still I don't understand why I won so easily (luck ?)
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-092829-5bccae77.html

GAME 3 : gamesou 28 = Buggy 28

A Chapel board with Vault/Tunnel (and also Treasure Map, which is probably weaker). A mirror match that ends
on a draw.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-093541-4fcbbcc9.html

GAME 4 : gamesou 32 - Buggy 22

The game I'm most proud of. With Chapel and Alchemist, I skip Sea Hag while Buggy doesn't. I could build a moneyless deck with Throne Room and two Barons that buys 2 Provinces a turn.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-094814-5a43ce79.html

GAME 5 : gamesou 35 - Buggy 41

With IGG and Sea Hag, we thought that Develops would be nice to tranform one into the other. But I probably invested too early into Develops.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-100006-66980dd3.html

GAME 6 : gamesou 18 - Buggy 19

A Fool's Gold rush, with Workshop helping while defending against Young Witch, and later spamming Islands. Buggy get the only Province. I definitely should have bought Estate instead of Hamlet on turn 13.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-100613-f604497e.html

GAME 7 : gamesou 40 - Buggy 32

A mess with Swindler, Apothecary, Golem, Remodel, Highway. My swindlers change twice Potion into Remodel, but Remdel was quite useful actually. I don't really understand how I could win that one
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-103117-96b14000.html

Thanks to Buggy for these games !

GGs, glad we finally got a time together :).

Did not realize how much that HP would help the single amb as you hit me turn 4-9, while I didn't see it until 7, and then yeah...

oh so close to pulling off the triple province governor turn on game 4, but alas. My strategy that last game was just a muddled mess though. Gl

So after 5 close games andwilk defeated me and showed me that i am not ready yet to enter the group of lvl 40+ players. All games were intresting (i think because we played with veto mode on so we vetoed all the curse giving cards).
game 1 25-29 andwilk wins http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-085726-9e3962cd.html  An intresting game in which we both opened with ironworks for great halls, while i bought fool's gold and he bought silver.I think that fool's gold was a better choice, because a combination of walled villages rables and 1 pawn would be unstopable.During, the game i was anxious and i wanted to end the game with a win as soon as posible.I saw he had a weaker deck so i thouth of buying all the dutchies. He needed 2 colonies to defeat me.(i counted wrong i thouth he needed more than that thinking that i had 2 more great halls and estates than him). This decision was a mistake and i lost a game i controlled from the start. He bought 2 colonies and a dutchy in 2 turns and defeated me.
game 2 67-69 andwilk wins http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-090739-4ade509d.html We both had a diferent strategy  on the game.He wanted to earn victory points from colonies, while i wanted to also use tunnels and bishops to trash these golds i would gain from his and my minions. Now that i see the game i think i should have bought more mining villages and bishops.i also did the mistake (again miscounted ) to buy a colony leaving the last one for andwilk.A strange game in which i dont know which strategy was better.
game 3 18-44 andwilk wins http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-091706-2df8c22f.html I made a horible mistake here.We were both able to draw nearly our whole deck and the horns of plentry were split 6-4.He had 1 province with 7 left, and as you can see from the logs i did play cellar with a huge hand but i chose not to discard any cards.I had 2 cellars in my hand and there were like 10 cards in my discard pile.If i had played my cellar(i always fear the resufle ) my next draw would be destroyed, but by drawing both my hop the provinces would be split 6-2 and i would probably win because i also had the money for a duthy.Again this mistake destroyed my better start.
game 4 46-34 i win http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-092853-bfeddd04.html When we started this match i knew everything was over.I couldnt win 4 games, playing second in the three of them. This was a much simplier game. He went for apothecaries, while i bought 3 salvagers(my favourite card) and a vault.I bought some early golds due to the vault, while he bought  8 apothecaries. At the end he had dificulties reaching 8 while i have been salvagering my cards to easily reach 8.
game 5 27-24 andwilk wins http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/16/game-20121216-093547-f24ba147.html Again i dont know who deserved to win. He bought more high cost cards like hightay and laboratory ,while i bought low cost cards and cards giving + buys and went straight for vineyards.they were splited 2-0 3-1 but at the end he had 4 of them(i bought two potions).I am not sure if i would win even if i had 5 vineyards, because he had more buying power. He could easily buy a province or 2 before i could end the game.I wasnt unlucky in this game but if i were lucky i would have won ( he won by 3 points and 4 vineyards and 18 action cards, with 1 less action card on his deck he would have lost).

All games were very intresting and andwilk is a good player. When the brackets were created i was lvl 35 and he was lvl 32.Now i am improved (lvl 37) but he is lvl 40. So it isnt an upset that i lost. The tournament was that great that i was anxious because i wanted to continue playing on it.Great organisation jonts and greatexpectations, and thank you for doing it. If only it could be done more than once per year, that would be great(but i suppose this was the last one).It is great that we have a second chance at the rats division. Its somethink like europa league,it ofters a new goal to achieve , to win this tournament.Andwilk good luck in the rest tournament.Defeat obi wan bonogi, show that i lost from a great oponnent.

easwaran 4-3 over yariv

We alternated wins until the last game, which turned out to be incredibly close, but I pulled ahead and stuck it out at one estate per turn before he was able to get another province.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-130734-4b1741ed.html

Close game.  He got more gold and I got more mountebanks.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-131559-31269c91.html

Odd quantity of noble brigands here.  He was ahead for much of the game, but my golems and cities eventually pulled ahead.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-131934-fe8c7e0a.html

Quick ironworks/silk road game, where I laid too much of my hope on familiar instead of ironworks.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-132812-650c0b29.html

I think this game was our biggest strategy difference.  I went all out on highways, aiming for the vineyards, while he went for province.  It was sort of risky for me, because horse traders was the only +buy, so I had to be careful not to discard my potions.

Actually, looking back on it, I now see that nomad camp was there!  I somehow misread that as noble brigands, so I didn't go for it, but it would have made my strategy much easier.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-133523-97683549.html

Margrave/village/bridge - he started pulling ahead in villages and margraves at some point, and got the big turn before me.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-134205-9fcc6710.html

I was hoping my militia would inhibit his ambassador, but it looks like I just got lucky and pulled ahead in ambassador first even without that.  Then the tournaments and provinces started kicking in - I probably should have been able to do the ending faster with the amount of luck that I had.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/19/game-20121219-135036-63a30250.html

Crazy game - I intended to go for embassy and province, while he seemed to be aiming at duke/duchy, but I ended up winning the duchies and never actually got a province.  Embassy was definitely not as great at duke/duchy or piling out the estates, but I got lucky enough to pull it out.

Fun games all around!

Match report for Tables (24th) vs. gamesou (9th)
Match result: Tables 1-4 gamesou

By request, we play without identical starting hands (but I think we had the same split in every game anyway, although not the same order)

Game 1: Tables 36-86 gamesou
A game with an engine I didn't think would work (which along with engines I didn't expect to work, ends up being a common theme here). Both of us manage to (almost or totally) piledrive a pile here - for me, it's Hunting Parties with Horse Traders, for him, it's Highways. He uses Tacticians with Highways, a Trade Route for trashing, and Horse Traders for +buy, and promptly puts me in my place.

Game 2: Tables 44-32 gamesou
Mountebank game where we both open Silver/Silver, he gets $4/$4 on the second shuffle and buys his first Mountebank for $7, while I get $5 on turn 4, then $6/$5 and grab a Gold and another Mountebank. Despite this I do actually lose the curse split, but it was clear who was going to win right from those early turns. Gamesou almost managed to bring it back around with 6 point Fairgrounds, but narrowly misses them.

Game 3: gamesou 72-38 Tables
A case of 'I didn't spot the engine'. Which is a surprise, because I'm normally dead hot on double Tac engines. He does double tac with Vault and Secret Chamber, plus Cutpurse and other components. I do big money with Menagerie, pretty much. I played this totally wrong, gamesou played it totally right.

This game got more and more hilarious as things went on, though. As if beating me with a better engine was fun enough for gamesou, he decided to rub it in by having his cutpurse kill my first Platinum hand ($9 exactly), and then as I was ready to start greening, hit my hands with exactly $11 three times. In a row. (Turns 12-14).

Game 4: Tables 29-40 gamesou
To be honest, this one still surprises me. I had NOT expected Alchemists to work here, yet clearly they did, and extremely well. My deck started with a purpose, but quickly went awry as I tried to build some kind of hybrid Conspirator/Big Money deck (you should be shouting at your monitor by this point). I think part of my problem was I kept thinking I could do something upgrade wise with Border Villages... I think I might have been tired while playing these games... But unsurprisingly it doesn't work, and I lose.
I actually resigned in this game, when I was 11 points behind and there was 1 Province and 7 Estates to buy, as there was no way I was going to actually get 6 Estates+Province before gamesou got 3 Estates.
Anyway this is the only game where I actually tried anything resembling an engine and it's probably one of only two games where a BM approach might have worked. Brilliant.

Game 5: Tables 41-46 gamesou
I almost one this one! Governor and Ambassador were the key cards here. I only grabbed one Ambassador, thinking getting rid of junk wasn't going to be that important in the fast Governor game, and similarly passed up University on the same grounds. Well, I was... half right. I ended up grabbing an extra Ambassador or two, not because I needed a lean deck, but because I needed to throw the curses back from his wad of Ambassadors. The game ended on a turn when I could have gotten three Provinces myself, but alas, it was not to be, and gamesou took a well deserved victory.

Congrats to gamesou for his decisive victory and clever engines, and while I don't think I was at my best (far from it, actually), I doubt I'd have won even if I were. May we meet again for more games.

...spin-offs are still better for all of the previously cited reasons.
But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

We agree to play under Constraint(s) used: prohibited: Familiar, Ill-Gotten Gains, Possession, Sea Hag, Swindler, Tournament.  All players get identical starting hands.  The point tracker will be available.

Game 1:  His lighthouses collided early and I was able to edge out 6/4 in curses.  A single grand market a long with some good inn opportunities proved to be enough for 5 provinces.  In other news I am bad at Gardens, always have been.

Game 2: We both opt not to open with a Fool's Gold along with our Mountebank.  We continue the mirror for a while both amassing hunting parties until I diverge getting bridge and potion.  I can't resist getting the first scrying pool but ultimately wanted to get some pstones.  The buys from bridge were enough to push me over.

Game 3: He out-minions me.  I seem to mix my strategy midgame but really just felt like I was buying a lot of good cards and seeing what happened.  While he sticks to a streamline strategy that was very effective.

Game 4:  I never get 3 smugglers.  But the one time I do, here, I really thought I would win.  Alas, in the end we draw.

Game 5:  Confirming reports coming in, I am bad at Gardens.

Game 6:  He tries to sneak past a witch which proved ill-fated as he is unable to get his money ramped up.  Also, here is a play you don't see often:
Turn 11...
Obi Wan Bonogi buys a Copper.
... revealing a Watchtower.
... putting the Copper on the deck.

Game 7:  Still bad at Gardens.  I made some questionable plays but I think the 6/4 curse split hurt me more than anything.  He finished me off well.

Game 8:  I was worried about losing this game before I saw the board and seeing it didn't help my confidence.  I'd been playing several games in the series out of my comfort zone and looking at this board I felt it wasn't catered to my strengths at all.  I've heard of this thing called double jack so I gave that a shot.  The main divergence was my 2nd shanty and 2nd jack into council rooms vs his money and stables.  Seems like once he fell behind no +buys really kept him from catching up.

Obi Wan Bonogi defeats andwilk 4-3

Well played series to my opponent.

ednever over shraeye 4-1

I almost felt bad winning this. Shraeye was the highest seeded player left in the tournament. He had two great upsets in the first two rounds. Here's how this one played out:

Game 1: University/Torturer
I pick up a Village instead of a Silver on the open. It helps me get my Torturer chains going faster, but I can't produce the money I need to buy green. I end up losing on piles. I'm already worried how this series will play out.

Game 2: Ironworks/Island/Crossroads
At least that's how I played it. Shraeye went with more standard BM+Jester. It's a close call. Both of us invest likely too much into treasure before moving to green (due to a few $7 hands). And then I get ahead after Shraeye draws $7 a few too many times. He makes the right call and breaks PPR. Then I can only buy an Estate. He buys a Duchy. I end it with the last province.

ednever wins

Game 3: Fun kingdom with everything - Caravan, Witch, Fishing Village, Vineyards, Apprentice, Hamlet, Grand Market, etc. - it all came into play!
I overloaded Witches thinking I could Apprentice them later. Shraeye goes for more money to pick up early Grand Markets. I figure I want as many actions as possible as I'm planning to ignore Provinces and go Vineyards in the end. Things are looking up until I realize all the Caravans are gone, all the curses are gone, and Shraeye just bought 2 of the last 4 Fishing Villages - and he's a fair bit ahead on VP.
I can only pick up a Duchy, but not enough to stop him from ending it with $6 and 2 buys.
He draws $5 and 2 buys. I stay alive and pick up a Vineyard, a Province and a Duchy. Now it's just a matter of time.

ednever wins

Game 4: Gardens/Silk Roads (with Cahce/Baron/Smugglers support)
I pick up Smugglers and he doesn't. I go into green a turn or two before him. It's all over.
It was Shraeye's second ever Silk Roads rush. Not bad at all!

ednever wins

Game 5: Ambassador/Quarry with transition into Market/King's Court
I pick up two Ambassadors. He doesn't. His only other real mistake was playing Torturer when I had a deck that could draw itself and King's Courted Ambassadors.
Challenge was picking up enough stuff that guaranteed me a King's Court chain without letting him end it on a lucky pile-out (Quarries plus Markets can do that. See my last turn - something like 20+ buys and all the action cards were free...)

ednever wins

I took it 4/1, but it could have easily been a nail-biter. I was $1 away from losing games 2 and 3. I made some bad decisions those games and just got lucky it didn't take me out.

Well played shraeye! And welcome to the world of Dominion tournaments!

Just a few comments from my series with Obi Wan Bonogi.

Cursers and Gardens ruled the day as a either Mountebank or Witch showed up in 5 of the 8 games and Gardens in 3 of them.  This made for a messy series and not a lot of chances to delve into engine building.

Game 1:  I get behind from the start on the curses and try to go Gardens to catch up seeing it as my only chance for victory but it wasn't enough.

Game 2:  I was a little surprised that I lost this one.  In my experience, usually Hunting Party+X/BM (here, X is Mountebank) will outrace anything that tries to deviate and get a little fancy so I stick to that blueprint but it doesn't work out.

Game 3:  An engine-type game based around Minions.  I see that as the key card and out-gain them 6-2.

Game 4:  Ick... Smugglers.  And it was a good game for it as Obi Wan invests in 3 of them.  I completely miss the Highway/Smugglers combo which results in a 3-province turn for him on turn 15.  Luckily, I am able to force the draw.

Game 5:  This was my shining star of the set.  It's a Colony game, but Mountebank is on the board along with Gardens and Hoard.  I figure Gardens would be my best shot here so I get a Mountebank first, then a few Hoards and head straight into Gardens.  His Mountebank fed me quite a few Coppers throughout the game and I ended up with 7-point Gardens by the end.

Game 6:  I follow up my best game with this stinker.  I try to get cute and dance around Witch with Masquerade and Wharf.  I proceed to get destroyed.  Note to self: you can't avoid Witch.

Game 7:  Ho-hum another Curser/Gardens game.  He gets the first Goons but I win the curse split and that ended up being more important.

Game 8:  When the board appeared and saw it was basically a Big Money game with JoaT out there, I knew I would need to get the draws to win this one as we mirror open with Shanty Town/JoaT.  He gets the superior turn 3/4 and it was pretty much downhill from there.  He gets the first two Provinces and picks up +buy from Council Room and I can't catch up.

Good series, although not the most enjoyable boards for either of us.

If I'm shark bait, am I playing against... myself?

Because if so, I'm sure to win!

Sorry paddy-
I meant to make a reference to Shark Bait and me playing in the semi-finals in Detroit - with Scout as a key card. No offense intended. I hope you kick that little fishy's bum. (Or whatever the shark equivalent is of bum...)

Seriously, I am excited to play either one of you. And everyone else left in the tournament. The quality of players after three rounds is looking a little ridiculous...

I've got to say, I'm loving all the friendly trash talk that is going on in regards to myself and paddy.  It's nice to know that we can competitive, polite and little edgy all at the same time!

@ed, sharks don't have bums so paddy will have nothing to kick.

No worries, ed!  I'm totally down with the trash talk.  ;D ;D ;D (even if it was unintentional or a miscommunication)

And as for shark_bait, well... it's good that he gets these moments in the limelight.  You know: build up his ego.  Bigger they come harder they fall kinda stuff.

Besides, ed, I started the back and forth with you with my intense disappointment at the talk of your Round 2 bye!  Should shark_bait have his way with me (between you and me, it's never going to happen), then I won't have to face you after all.

I don't know what you guys are so worked up about. In the end, it doesn't really matter who wins, because I'm in this bracket.  8)
