An episode of Extra Credits on Counterplay.

I watched this recent episode of Extra Credits today.  The series is really about game design for video games, but this is an example of a topic that is relevant for board games, especially for the design of Variant and Fan Cards.

The summary?  When you design a new mechanic in multiplayer game, it is important that this mechanic be engaging not only for the player using it, but also for the players it is being used against.  In particular, it should increase the number of strategic decisions, rather than shutting them down.  Yeah, many of us recognize this, especially after someone mentions it, but I still thought some may find this video interesting.
