Someone on Iso once embargoed the Curses against me, they thought that when someone gained a Curse, they would gain a Curse.

I've certainly done this.  Usually I'm going for some Alt VP like Fairgrounds.

Huh, I'm just wondering, how well would going crazy embargo work against a Goons deck?

I'm pretty sure there have been big discussions about how adding Embargo to the board can change the strategy wildly - opponent goes for Strategy A, double-embargo key card A, opponent now has to go for Strategy B or at least modify Strategy A to deal with a pile of Curses.

Indeed, shall make a mental note of that!

Embargo is a pretty brutal card... You could potentially, with KC or TR assault the green cards soo much that it evolves into a game of 'who can lose the least VP while we three pile out this game'...

Embargo on Provinces is maybe worth it on a Fairgrounds board, but in my experience, Embargo just usually makes alt-VP a very bad idea (except Workshop or Ironworks rushes where it doesn't hurt you a lot). Especially Duchy/Duke.

Yeah. I think that Psyduck should've embargoed Duchies instead of Dukes.

I don't think a Duchy Embargo would have done anything for him as at that point I still could have easily switched to a Province strategy. Maybe the second Embargo on the Duchies would have been decent, but in the end Curses hurt a deck that has to hit $5 just a whole lot less than a deck that has to hit $8, so me Embargoing the Provinces hurts him more than him Embargoing the Duchies would hurt me.

Plus, slogging a game really helps the Duchy/Duke player, because once the Dukes are 6 VP, the longer the game, the better for the Duke player. The real question is, how Duchy/Duke worked with only Island for enabling?

Four player game.

Play Ambassador.  Reveal Ill-Gotten Gains.  Send out three IGGs, each off which sends out another three Curses.  Reveal Trader three times.

Opponents each gain an IGG and two Curses.  I gain three Silvers.

Embargoing the curses can be a good way to help end the game on piles with Watchtower or Goons.  It can also be a way to get extra silvers with trader.  Although then it's kind of a toss up whether to pick that or copper.

That seems a little contrived for Goons.  Doesn't ending on piles almost happen naturally when you're going Goons?  Or is it that you can end that last pile in one go without having the junk propagate through shuffles?

It would be cool to come across the edge case where your opponent has to buy the Curse to pump his Fairgrounds up to give him exactly a 1 point victory lead, so any extra curse would make him lose.

Embargoing Curses means you get multiple curses with a single buy. That can dramatically reduce the number of gains necessary to end the game. In a Goons game, being able to control the endgame timing is massive.

A pet trick I would like to do is build  Black Market/Poor House deck. Sadly, you can't use Black Market on Goko. I also want to try Scavenger/Stash.

Wouldn't that be even harder to line up than 2 Treasure Maps to start with? I guess you could use Scheme...

The trouble with Treasure Map isn't so much that they are difficult to line up, but rather that they are useless when they don't.

Throne Room+Armory is another pair that is equally hard to line up, but could be doing something for you in the meantime. Talisman+Watchtower is strictly harder to line up as you need at least $3 out of your other three cards when they collide, but you can open with it, and Watchtower is nice to have in a deck full of Copper and Gold.
