No-Shuffle Dominion
« on: November 20, 2012, 04:48:42 pm »

Hi! I've never posted in this forum, but would be interested in moderating a game of no-shuffle dominion.

It would play almost exactly like dominion, but instead of shuffling your deck once you reach the end, you can rearrange it however you please.

It would work as follows:
—All players would first PM me the starting arrangement of their deck (7 coppers and 3 Estates in any order)
—I would randomly determine who would go first.
—The starting player would post their turn, for example:
I play 5 coppers.
I buy a counterfeit.
—Whenever you reshuffle, PM me your deck arrangement so that I can make sure your turns are legal.
—If an illegal play is made, the game will be backtracked to the start of that turn.
—At the end of each round (a round consists of one turn by each player), I will post everything that the iso info page does, except for the deck and discard piles.
—No point counter will be posted; however, counting the points should not be that difficult if you really want to know.

If you want to join, mention it in this thread. I will take up to three players.

The kingdom will be: Platinum, Colony, Militia, Golem, Menagerie, Procession, Inn, Mining Village, Rabble, Quarry, Tactician, Counterfeit.

Additional information for turn logs:

Try to match the iso logs as much as possible.
When discarding cards, you must state which cards are discarded, unless it is the clean-up phase.
Each action card and special treasure card gets a new line, and everything it does gets indented by an ellipsis and a space.

Example:
I play a procession
... playing a cellar
... ... discarding 2 estates
... ... drawing 2 cards
... playing the cellar again
... ... discarding a copper
... ... drawing a card
... trashing the cellar
... gaining a menagerie

Feel free to add suggestions!

Sounds interesting, posting to follow even though I don't want to play.  :)

I'm just going to grab the popcorn and wait for Celestial Chameleon to win.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

Wouldn't this be more interesting with attacks in the kingdom? As it is, this does make it more like a solitaire challenge. With attacks in the kingdom (or interactive cards), you'd have to guess what your opponent would do and adjust your play based on their strategy.

Good point, Dsell; I put no attacks in the kingdom in the interest of game speed.
However, as long as the attack does not require a decision by the person playing it, attacks should be fine.
The obvious choices are deck-inspection and discard (and maybe a trashing attack).
The updated kingdom will replace Wharf with Rabble and Cellar with Militia.

I agree that attacks would make it more interesting. But, I don't think I have time to play here alas :(. I'll watch though!
