What does /tag mean in signup threads? Context seems to imply it's different from /in? Or is it just some sort of running joke?

/tag to watch the thread so the thread appears in your "new replies to your posts", but you aren't actually in the game.

I do it a lot for games that I can't play in, but want to keep track of for stat purposes or for general entertainment.
