...spin-offs are still better for all of the previously cited reasons.
But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

I of course have plenty, but the most relevant seems to be "I, card arena oaf". Which describes what would happen if I tried playing in a tournament, I guess.
