Starting with your normal deck of 7 Coppers and 3 Estates and playing solitaire, what is the least amount of turns needed to move your entire deck to the Island mat? Nothing may be trashed, everything must be moved to the mat.

This is not something I have worked out, but you are all so much better at these puzzles, so I'll just let you do it.
I don't know whether it's mathematically possible, but I'm guessing it is.

The cards needed seem obvious, but the order in which to buy/play them may prove somewhat of a challenge.

Note: Every card you add to your deck must also be moved to the mat at some point.
This means your last move before completing the challenge will exactly be: Play Island, Move Island with X to your mat. Buy nothing. Cleanup: Nothing to draw!

Okay, here's a first attempt. This can probably be improved on but it will give others a baseline to work with.

Open Island/Silver

Turn 3 (Copper x5) - Buy Throne room.
Turn 4 (Silver, Copper x2, Estate x2) - Buy Island.
Turn 5 (Island, Estate, <shuffle>, Estate, Throne Room, Copper) - TR Island, set aside Estate x2.
Turn 6 (Copper x4, Silver) - Buy Island.
Turn 7 (Copper x2, Island, Estate, <shuffle>, TR) - TR Island, set aside Estate, Copper.
Turn 8 (Copper x5) - Buy Island.
Turn 9 (Silver, Copper, Island, <shuffle>, Copper x2) - Buy Island.
Turn 10 (Island, TR, Copper x3) - TR Island, set aside Copper x2.
Turn 11 (<shuffle>, Island, TR, Copper x3) - TR Island, set aside Copper x2.
Turn 12 (Silver, Island, Copper, <shuffle>, Copper, TR) - Buy Island.
Turn 13 (<shuffle>, Silver, Copper x2, Island, Island) - Buy Island.
Turn 14 (TR, <shuffle>, Island, Copper x2, Silver) - TR Island, set aside Copper x2.
Turn 14 (Island, Island, <shuffle>, Silver, TR) - Island, set aside Silver.
Turn 15 (<shuffle>, Island, TR) - Island, set aside TR.


Whole deck on the Island mat at the end of turn 15.

It seems likely that the most efficient way to do this involves ironworks.

Here's a log where I did this in 15 turns in a real game, so it definitely can be improved beyond this.

New solution:

Open Envoy/-

Turn 3 (Copper x4, Envoy) - Play Envoy, draw Copperx3, Estate x2, discard Estate. Buy KC.
Turn 4 (Estate, <shuffle>, Copper x4) - Buy Island
Turn 5 (Envoy, Estate, KC, Copper x2) - KC Envoy, draw whole deck, (discard Estate). Buy Island.
Turn 6 (<shuffle>, KC, Island, Estate x3) - KC Island, set aside Estate x3.
Turn 7 (Copper x4, Envoy) - Play Envoy, draw whole deck, (discard KC). Buy Island.
Turn 8 (KC, <shuffle>, Island, Copper x3) - KC Island, set aside Copper x3.
Turn 9 (Copper x4, Envoy) - Play Envoy, draw whole deck, (discard KC). Buy Island.
Turn 10 (KC, <shuffle>, Envoy, Copper x3) - Play Envoy, draw whole deck, (discard KC). Buy Island.
Turn 11 (KC, <shuffle>, Island, Copper x3) - KC Island, set aside Copper x3. Buy Copper.
Turn 12 (Copper, Envoy, Island, <shuffle>, Copper, KC) - KC Island, set aside Copper x2, Envoy.
Turn 13 (Island, <shuffle>, KC) - Play Island, set aside KC.


This gets the job done in 13 turns. Seeing Fangz's post though, it's probably possible to even do better than this.

Along Fangz lines, 11 turns in the obvious way.

open Amb/Amb. 
Abbreviations: Estate (E), Copper (C), Ambassador (A), Island (I)
Notation: <> = separates cards drawn before shuffle from those after, deck size after turn [N]
Turn 1: CCCEE, buy A [11]
Turn 2: CCCCE, buy A [12]
Turn 3: ACCEE, remove EE  [10]
Turn 4: ACCCC, remove CC  [8]
Turn 5: CE <> CCA, remove E [7]
Turn 6: ACC<>CC, buy I [8]
Turn 7: AC<>CCI, remove CC [6]
Turn 8: ACC<>CI, remove CC [4]
Turn 9: A<>ACI remove A [3]
Turn 10: ACI remove C [2]
Turn 11: AI play Island

This is the fastest way you can get rid of your deck with Ambassadors and Islands, barring TR/KC, since after your opening 2 turns, you'll need 4 turns to remove the coppers, 2 turns for the estates, and 1 each to remove the Ambassador, buy an Island, and play the Island.  Using Islands is slower since you have to spend a turn buying them and another using them.  Yes the shuffling works out.

I realize the Ambassador solution may not be the one OP had in mind, given that one of the Ambassadors isn't removed to the Island matt.

Ambassador isn't allowed, it's not in the spirit of this puzzle. Ivery card you get from the supply should end up on the Island mat as well as all your starting cards.

I found a solution in 9 turns based on this idea:
Opening: Iron Works (IW), Chancellor
Turn 3: play IW -> gain Throne Room (TR), play Chancellor, flip deck, +2 copper  -> buy TR
Turn 4: TR TR IW(x2) -> gain Island(x2), Chancellor(x2), flip deck, +3 copper -> buy Kings Court (KC)
Turn 5: TR KC -> IW(x3) -> gain Island(x2) and Smithy,Chancellor(x3),flip deck,+1copper -> buy KC
Turn 6: TR TR KC KC -> Smithy(x3), Island(x3)[3xEstate], Island(3x)[3xcopper], IW(x3) -> gain Island(x3), Chancellor(x2), flip deck
Turn 7: KC, KC, Smithy(x3), Island(x3)[2xcopper,IW], Island(x3)[Chancellor,2xTR]
Turn 8: KC, Island(x3)[Smithy,KC,Island]
Turn 9: Island[KC]
