Very much!  I remember that unofficial Dominion client someone made that has a campaign mode.  It was neat too, but this one should be cooler.

well the existence of a campaign mode is sort of old news, but he made a passing reference at designing sets here.

Yes, I can't await to try this out. I especially hope this isn't only challenging for newer players, but also for more experienced players like all of us.

I wonder what sort of challenges they will be.  Get more than 6 Provinces on this board?  Accrue a certain amount of points?  Get all of one pile?  Do some fancy combo trick?

Oh, those are just challenges.  I hope the campaign mode will be much more story-focused.  "You must save your dominion from evil prince dickface!"  He sends militias to attack you at every opportunity, but your advisor has taught you to build watchtowers to ward off the oncoming mobs.  If you can amass a large amount of treasure quickly enough, you can buy off the mobs and turn them against him!

My first reaction was "that sounds stupid", but after reading some comment from Donald X about designing kingdoms for it, I think it could be pretty fun. Sort of like solo challenges, except from the designer.
I have not actually seen an implemented version of the campaigns, and my details there are sketchy.

A campaign (for a full or half set) consists of 20 levels, each level is a game with 10 cards as usual. I picked out the 10 cards for most of them, but not for the main set / tutorial, and not for a few levels on some of the other ones. Basically when I first saw them I was displeased with how slowly new cards were introduced in them, and I ended up redoing most of the levels to fix that. And they hadn't done all the sets so I just did the other sets. There are a few I didn't change though.

However there is more to a campaign level than that - in particular I think the starting decks may vary by level. Every nth level is a "boss" in some sense, I am not clear on that either. There is story text. I didn't do any of that work, I just picked out the cards.

There are achievements, that is unrelated, and they will not be in the initial launch. There are generic achievements, I don't know what those are, and there are per-card achievements, and I picked out all of those, with help from playtesters.

I believe you (or someone) mentioned that Promo cards would be unlocked in-game - would that be in the campaign/adventure mode?

My understanding is that there will be multiple ways to get the promos, and one way will be beating campaigns.

Can you play with cards from expansions you don't own in the campaign mode?

I would think so, but rather ask and get an answer.

Since that seems like an amazing way to sell the expansions, I would be incredibly surprised if it weren't the case.

No, the campaigns are by expansion (or half - a Seaside A campaign, a Seaside B campaign, a full Seaside campaign, etc.), and you have to have the expansion to play them. And then within the campaign it's just that set and the main set. And you own that set since that got you the campaign, and the main set is free, so there you go.

Please turn your expansion over to Seaside B in order to hear the rest of this recording.

B-Side to Seaside, that's by Suzy and the Red Stripes. But as a Loud Family fan, I'll stick with The Tape of Only Linda.

When I first heard about the idea of a single-player adventure mode, I didn't see the point in it. Now that I've played almost exclusively against bots for the last month (and enjoyed it), I see the potential value.

Similarly, I'm against the idea in general of different starting decks, but I'm totally fine with it in the context of a single-player challenge mode. I just hope the people that are designing these "bosses" have a good enough understanding of Dominion dynamics to make them fun and challenging!  :D

I tried to come up with some potential ideas for a good starting deck... no idea what they will come up with. Everything I came up with was either too Over Powered or too Under Powered. -.-

Adventure #3: You have three turns before your opponent's KC-Goons-Masquerade pin is in place. End the game in a win. You were first player, so a tie is a loss.

Actually this is the part of the game I'm most looking forward to.  I've played thousands of games against hundreds of players of all abilities on Isotropic and real life, and against bots in the Funsockets beta, but I like the idea of something that I can do on my own that adds a new twist to Dominion and gives new challenges.

Well at least each adventure will only last for five turns then.

Looking at those threads, 5 turns for CC is a bit longer for me (or if you get a 'You Fail' screen after each one I'll be able to try each one many times without worrying about already knowing the answer.)
