Most FUN Cards EVER

Hi everyone! This is a topic where I want to know EVERYONE'S thoughts of what cards are the most fun, exciting, interactive cards to play with. Cards that are fun for groups, too! I personally love masquerade in groups as well as vault.

Menagerie. Every time it hits, it's a little victory.

I love Masquerade IRL too. When I first played Dominion, we played 4-player with Base+Intrigue, and we thought Masquerade was weak. I would buy it because it was fun. :P

I usually play casual games of 4-5 players with people who are new to the game, or generally not gaming people; I own Base and Seaside as well as Walled Village. The cards people find most fun from this selection are generally Council Room (I've never met anyone who doesn't love this one), Island (it's a kind of deck thinning that people usually enjoy and understand the benefit of immediately), and Smugglers (an interaction that is always entertaining). Moat/Lighthouse, Laboratory, Fishing Village and Smithy are also popular. A set with any of those cards is likely to go down very well in a casual setting. Interestingly, I have found that certain powerful attacks (e.g. Ghost Ship, Ambassador) are hated, while others (e.g. Witch) are enjoyed. Cards like Treasure Map, which are generally not worth it unless you have a specific plan for them, are not good in casual games (this is probably why Ambassador is disliked).

Although I play the other Dominion sets with a gaming group, I don't think any of them are as good as Base and Seaside for entertainment value and friendliness to new players and non-gamers. Here's hoping that Dark Ages has a bunch of cards that are fun and not-too-serious ...

Swindler!

I suppose this card might not actually go over well with newbies. I guess I'm a contrary bastard, and I also like to see what people including myself do with decks we weren't planning to build.

So, yeah, Masquerade is going to be the friendlier version of that. And I had the same experience as blueblimp, buying Masquerade because it was fun and not because it was part of a plan. I was baffled and thrilled when the stats started converging for what would become the "best/worst openings" list on Council Room, and they said "Masquerade: SECRETLY AWESOME".

I also find cards such as ambassador and mountebank are disliked, and sometimes king's court is disliked by new players as it seems overwhelming and overpowered.

Governer is fun. Everytime I play it, I have to carefully choose what to do with it, esp. when I don't have militias/goons/ghost ships. It is very pleasing to make grand finish with drawing massive cards, give my opponent lots of cards, remodeling 2 golds to provinces, and buying another one in the same turn. Of course sometime I botch it... ;-)

Ambassador. 2nd favorite is Philosopher's Stone. Reason: Ambass and Stone are two total opposites imo. Ambass strategy sends cards away, Stone takes them with a smile and a great big heart of love. :P Plus, it is funny to watch opponent either 1)Hating bad draws due to Ambass or 2) Struggling to reach $8 while you reach it no problem with your Stone. :D

The cards I find most fun are Golem, Governor, Masquerade, Tournament, Tactician and (controversially?) Possession.

I'm not sure what cards my main group of friends enjoy most, though they seem to love Moat due to that little surge of joy you get when someone plays an attack and you get to reveal that it didn't touch you at all. "Moat lol". Masquerade has received a..rather negative response..

Watchtower. I always buy more of it that I really ought to because it's so versatile there's almost never a situation where having one in-hand isn't at least moderately helpful. And when I get to bounce an incoming Curse into the trash then buy and top-deck a power card in my turn I feel EPIC.

In related news, I need to get out more.

When I play with my mother and grandmother, their all-time favorite cards are smithy! We play with it 99% of games because they love it so much! When I play with my family they generally despise my goons engines, so the first thing they say when we decide to play dominion is "No Goons pleeeeaaassse!!" We just recently purchased intrigue and I am still looking forward to playing it.

I have, and it does.  It's fun, but if you've got an uncontested HP stack, it takes a LOT of manipulation to get through each turn.

Menagerie. Every time it hits, it's a little victory.

it feels so good when you look at your hand and see no duplicates and a menagerie too

Almost as good as having 3 Estates, a Gold, and a Menagerie... and then opponent plays Militia.

I love it when an opponent opens Militia when Menagerie out. You would be surprised at how many people fall into this trap.
