Victory cards in solitaire game

Not sure if this belongs in Funsockets feedback, but...

Just saw that people had been reporting a Goko bug that there were 12 of each Kingdom victory cards in a solitaire game. This made me wonder... is there actually any rule about this? As far as I know, the Dominion rules don't mention anything about solitaire play... it's a game for 2-6 players. There are rules about how many of each victory card to use for 2 players, and rules for how many of each victory card to use for more than 2 players.

Is there any official rule about how many to use for solitaire? Or did Doug just decide that 8 made more sense when he made Iso. And if so, should Goko automatically use 8 as well?

I don't think there is any official rule, it's not mentioned in the rulebooks. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter; if you're doing a solitaire challenge, you can specify how much of whatever you should have.

That said, I think it makes the most sense for 1-player to be more like 2-player than 3+ player. And it makes sense for the Kingdom victory card piles to have the same number of cards as the Basic victory card piles.

12 makes more sense than 8 to me, since if your goal is to get 8 and there are 12 you don't have a problem. But if your goal is to get 12 and there are only 8 you're going to have to keep track of more things to be sure that you're doing it right.

I definitely would agree that Kingdom Victory cards need to have the same number as Basic Victory cards. But I think you could make a good argument that in Solitaire, there should only be 4 of each Victory card. In both 2 and 3 player, you get 4 Victory cards per player. In 4 player, you get 3 Victory cards per player. To give 8 Victory cards per player in solitaire seems odd, from that POV.

All the solo challenges in the world are now wrong!!!  ;D
