The Doug Z/Isotropic Appreciation Thread

Raising a glass and sending a cheers to Doug Z for the amazing job with isotropic, which is slated for retirement on 8/22/12.  It was always a nice break in the monotony of an average day.  When I was too sick to get out of bed for a few days, Isotropic was by far the best thing I had to pass the time.   Also, my buddy and I have an email thread that is over 500 emails long where we just review some of our more notable and epic game logs and shoot the shit about other things along the way.  It has really kept us tight over the past year and it would not have happened without Isotropic.  Fantastic that it was always ad-free, the community was incredibly positive, and the functionality was top-notch.  A true haven of the internet.  Thanks man.

P.S. I will ALWAYS think of Fantasia as Apprentice and the Wicked Witch as Witch for as long as I live!

After almost 2 years and over 2000 games on Isotropic, I can definitely say that DougZ created a fantastic product and is partially to blame for my Dominion addiction  ;D.  It's going to be a sad day when Isotropic closes its doors and is replaced with an inferior product, but at least we could enjoy it while it lasted!

Also this: http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=2763.msg45064#msg45064

But yes, after 1932 games and being a one-time top-100 ranking player, I can indeed say that Isotropic has had a pretty big impact on how I've spent my time over the past year. Thank you very much, Doug Z, for all your hard work.

Yes, Doug Z, fantastic. You get free beers for life and heh, this is probably definitely too mean-spirited but you should change the landing page to have a donate button and a link to the new game, "Go try the official version, then come back and donate if you feel led!"

I'm very new to isotropic (I think I've got <100 games total) but I have to say, it was an awesome piece of software.  You should be proud.  Here's hoping you move on to bigger and better things.

Wolphmaniac just found the best way to get respect :)

Thanks Doug! I am sad to see Isotropic go but it did not go to waste and I am sure you learned much from developing it! Doug you gave so many people who didn't have quite enough $$$ to spend towards Dominion the chance to mass-play it for free(except internet :( )!! Doug you are awesome!!!

Thanks for all the good times, Doug Z.  We can only pray Goko will ever become as great as Iso was, but it was fun while it lasted.

I would never have purchased Hinterlands were it not for iso.  I'm disappointed that online and offline play is going to seem much more either-orish for me

Many big thanks to Dougz, allowing me to play Dominion in unusual / inconvenient real life times and with so much more opponents from all directions and over great distances than ever possible at table in the same period.

Dominion on Isotropic is my single biggest hobby in the previous 12 months of my life. It is so addictive that in several nights I cannot go to sleep without spending 5-10 minutes on an Iso game.

Isotropic is also on top of my wife "hate list". Once I am in a game, I cannot respond to her in normal speed / in a logical manner (99% of my brain power is on the game...)

Thanks Dougz for building this amazing amazing platform for the game. It led me to the world of dominion, and opportunities to play with the greatest player in dominion. Obviously we did not realize how awesome it is until the new version comes out. I mean... the new version is pretty good already, but is still miles away from Isotropic. It shows how awesome is Isotropic: Neat, efficient, effective.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/ would be in my favourite bookmark forever  :D

so Iso will be shut down when i return from Gen Con. Hats of to you Doug, it was such a fantastic expirience. My relationship with Iso lated only 3 months and 350 games, but they were sooooo enjoyable. The best site on the internet, no doubt about it.

P.S. My wife also cheers about Iso going down
