Dear Beef Jelly,

I'm sorry that despite activating Treasure Map on not one but two separate occasions, and thus gaining 8 Gold, you did not win.

Dear my opponent,

Thank you for being such a good sport after I ended the game by getting off my Village-TR-CouncilRoom-Village-TR-TR-Market-CouncilRoom-Witch-Village-Village-TR-Market-CouncilRoom-Goons-Goons-Goons-Goons turn and won the game 73–3. A lot of newbie players wouldn't have been all "I'm impressed by that.... thanks for the lesson" after a game like that.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201109/17/game-20110917-002527-e2414e42.html

What is pictured here: Me winning partly due to going first, and mostly because drawing 2 copper + 3 estate on turn 4, then Bishop and no estates on turn 5 really really hurts.

What is not pictured: I literally spent at least 2 minutes, probably closer to 4 minutes with an action in between, trying to figure out how to make $22 on the last turn. It's too bad you can't see my hand in the log...Let's just say that King's Court + Bishop + Horse Traders + a big enough hand that playing even one more card than needed could make me discard a Platinum I needed for the $22= really big AP.

(If people are curious my hand after KC-KC-Rabble was 2x Horse Traders, 1x Bishop, 1x KC, 1x Haven, 1x Plat, 2x Silver, 1x Copper, 5x Victory cards. I thought I was out of treasure, and I could only get up to $21. Eventually just played the Haven and ended up drawing another Plat, rendering all the previous minutes pretty useless)

Dear opponent, I'm sorry, but.... haters will be hating!

  — Davio's turn 6 —
   Davio plays an Embargo.
   ... getting +$2.
   ... trashing the Embargo.
   ... embargoing the Provinces.

That's a pretty normal thing to do. What's the context that makes this such a painful thing for your opponent?

This game I just played: I manage to possess my opponent on the turn that he otherwise would've hit with menagerie four times and would've won three prizes with tournament. Although he managed to take a huge lead by gaining four duchies in a turn (with Remake and Tournament), I manage to draw Possession again near the top of the reshuffle and buy the last two provinces.

Dear Dash Berlin,

I am sorry that on a Tournament board, my Smithy/Silver opening snagged a Province on the first reshuffle (Turn 3?? Or might have been Turn 4), and activated my first Tournament on Turn 6, despite your Turn 5 Torturer.

Sorry that it took you the entire game to charge up those cities, only for me to KC-remodel my way to 6 provinces in one turn.

Dear My Opponent,

I am sorry that you went for Thief in a 2 player game with Scrying Pool, Throne Room, Conspirator, Workshop, Woodcutter, and Peddler, although I did appreciate the help in trashing my Coppers. I'm also sorry that my shuffle luck (Workshop-Copper-Potion-Estate x 2 on the first shuffle and your Thief trashing my Potion on the third shuffle) wasn't enough to make the game closer. Oh, and I'm sorry that you hadn't seen the Secret Chamber-Scrying Pool trick before.

(Game log should be available on councilroom tomorrow).

I opened Masquerade/Silver earlier today and had 4 Provinces by turn 9. The most perfect shuffle luck I've ever had. I was about to apologize for drawing so well when my opponent resigned and promptly left.

I would probably have won anyway since they opened Chapel and aggressively trashed all their bad cards (would have very shortly had to start passing me good cards on my Masquerades), but still.

I introduced dominion to some of my relatives recently.   After a few intro set games, we played a base + seaside game where I crafted a council room/fishing village/militia engine (4p).   While not the cruelest engine, it had the 'hope given ... dashed' factor.  Eg, boosting their hands up to about 7-8 cards while I drew my entire deck, then forcing them to discard down to 3.  We made it through about 3 hands like this before there was a group rage quit. >:(

Needless to say, this was probably a poor choice for introducing beginners to dominion, but at least I was able to convince them to play again a few days later.  ;)

Here's that Masquerade/Silver game with 4 Provinces by turn 9: http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20111010-092005-32afd7fc.html

God, I wish I could shuffle like that every day!

I would apologize to the guy I played yesterday (in my one episode of good luck... no, my one episode of better-than-nauseatingly-bad luck for the day) when I opened with Vault across from Council Room and got Gold at turn 3 followed by Provinces at turns 4 and 5, except that he ragequit and made me wait for the timeout so he's just a terrible person and I hope he dies screaming :-\

Speaking of uncanny shuffle luck, it's not quite lucky chancellor but it's not too far off. Sorry, greatexpectations.

Dear Zarathustra,

sorry I hit one of your provinces on the last turn with my swindler to give me the win.

My dear opponent, I am sorry for putting together a golem-familiar-pirate ship engine on your first game on isotropic, and for finishing it slowly with vineyards since the third player had bought three early provinces.

I did apologise to the guy during play but it was still quite a harsh introduction. In fact he may never draw hands as bad again for as long as he plays Dominion!

I am not sorry for having a deck comprised of 3 Caravan, 1 Ambassador, 1 Silver, and 4 Golds on turn 11. You made some crucial errors allowing this to happen (ie, not buying Ambassador until my deck was already in this position).

I am also sorry for spending my next 6 turns buying Provences however.

This log would have approached epic if you had needed to draw the Gold you gained from Fool's Gold to get to 8...

I'm sorry that I bought the first possession... and then proceeded to buy 5 further possessions, mainly with your hands. Thankyou for sticking through that as long as you did.

I'm so sorry that you didn't realize that buying torturers was a REALLY bad idea on this particular board. If those pesky chapels and cities weren't there I'm sure it would have been a fine strategy.

I'm sorry I messed up your Duke strategy by using the only Embargo in the game to Embargo the Duchies twice and the Dukes once.

I'm sorry that I had some nice luck and you accidentally activated cities for me, shortening the game significantly.

That's really not a great board for buying pirate ships. Bazaars, conspirators, cities, bridges and oases should make for a very action heavy deck. Having someone pick your coppers out for you can only make it faster.
