[Turn 15]
f plays a Rogue a third time.
n reveals a Copper and a Disciple.
n trashes a Disciple.
n gets 1 VP from Tomb.
n discards a Copper.

[Turn 17]
f plays a Rogue.
f gets +1 Buy (from Teacher)
n shuffles their deck.
n reveals a Peasant and a Teacher.
n trashes a Teacher.
n gets 1 VP from Tomb.
n discards a Peasant.

At least they got the Tomb points.

That reminds me when my mom would not exchange her disciples for teachers. I thought she was crazy. She also lost very badly because of it. It also drove me nuts because I couldn't exchange my fugitives for disciples.

Disciple is pretty often stronger than Teacher and it's not at all unusual in high level games to go for Disciple and not get any Teachers.

Especially if they are preventing you from getting Disciples of your own as you describe.

You have a good point but I won with all four tokens on different supply piles, so in that case I think teacher was better.

Um. Buying Peasant, upgrading it in four steps to Teacher, then putting it on your Tavern mat four times and calling it four times has to take at least 13 turns. Probably several more, unless you do a preposterously extreme trick like Summoning a Peasant then Donating your deck.

Given Big Money wins on turn 17 or so, you need to have some really strong justification for playing Teacher so many times instead of doing something that gets you VP and ends the game quicker.

It was a really slow game, and teacher is best in slow games.

I opened 3/4 while my opponent opened 5/2 on a Mountebank board. He wins the Curse split, but then he plays big money and greens way too early, while I clean up with Lookout and make an engine with KC and Catacombs. This is the chat from the game:

La-Ya:  hi
La-Ya:  glhf!
Opponent:  you too
La-Ya:  ugh [this in response to my opponent's Mountebank opening]
Opponent:  how do you draw tht
Opponent:  every turn
Opponent:  its pretty sickening how lucky you are
Opponent:  banned and blacklisted

And now for the annual PSA:
Dear opponent:

I'm sorry that you're a bad player and I crushed you,

Let me tell everyone about it.

To clarify, this thread is really for "I'm sorry I chose a strategy/tactic that's particularly unpleasant to play against" (painfully slow engines, pins, milling provinces, etc.) or "I'm sorry I got really lucky and/or you got really unlucky," not "I'm sorry you're bad at Dominion and/or I'm good at Dominion."

Dear my opponent, I am sorry that you received Envy 3x in a deck that could have reliably double-Provinced.

Is there an "awww"- thread? I just met an opponent playing with Rats for the first time. They ended up with a deck consisting of.. 20 rats. So cute.

By the end of the game they were probably thinking something along the lines of "oh Rats!"

Dear mikechike,

Sorry that I opened 5/2 on a board with Governor and Chapel, and proceeded to trash 3 estates on turn 3. You played a lot better than me but still lost.

Also, while it might seem like Lord Rattington is playing with Rats for the first time... it isn't, it just likes to do that.

Yes, we chatted some time afterwards and they told me it was the first time they saw "the damned thing". I did nothing different in my first game with the card, although we were 4 players with two of us trying out the same thing so it wasn't that bad, but I certainly got the five rats-hand before it dawned on me you can't just use it as a usual trasher..

Dear opponent, I'm sorry that I went for the megaturn with KC-inventor-duplicate on a board with Mountebank and no trashing nor splitters. I know the feeling when you're ahead massively only to see it evaporate in the last minute, it's not better if it is on turn 39...

Unless opponent had a 5/2 opening, this would be one of the cases of "sorry you are less clever than me".

What rating had this fella? I'm always surprised over how these sorrow people never seem to check the ratings before they insult someone like this. "Yeah, I'm like ten points over you, don't you think that my win here was.. I don't know, like.. probable?"

Instead this nonsense about luck, annoying as heck.

Edit: And oh, I kinda like humble/crumble as a opening, at least if I plan to go for Castle heavily. Maybe I have just been, ahem, lucky when that have seem to work out for me..

Like the one who opened Page/Potion and whined how his "Strategy" was foiled by Page not reappearing until 2nd shuffle. Called it "worst possible shuffle" even though he got an Alchemist (as the only potion card in the kingdom) after 1st shuffle. I shudder at imagining the amount of his whining if Potion had met two Estates.

Dear bparnold31;

I'm so sorry.

Yes, I did buy 9 Border Villages and 6 Torturers to go with them. And yes, I had to keep playing them for deck control. And yes, I was not really close to ending the game yet.

If you would only have gained a curse once in a while, you might have actually had something to do after turn 12.

I'm so sorry you were stuck in this abusive relationship.

Sincerely,
napking24
