This may have been said before, but to me most of these apologies look an awful lot like boasts :)

This goes both on the boneheaded plays and the 'dear my opponent, I'm sorry' lists:

In a Worker's Village, Bridge, King's Court game, my opponent gets ridiculously bad luck - never managing to draw his King's Court with anything useful.  On turn 13, I double King's Court my Bridges.  Instead of buying out the Provinces I immediately conclude that I need to 3-pile to end the game.

Only to realize I can't 3-pile.  But I don't have enough buys to get the Provinces anymore because I've now wasted a bunch.

Despite my idiocy, my opponent STILL can't draw his KC with a Bridge and is unable to close out the game.  So I, like the blind chipmunk who somehow still finds an acorn, stumble to victory by 3-piling it on the next turn.

— Davio's turn 1 —
   Davio plays 5 Coppers.
   Davio buys a Stables.
(Davio draws: 2 Coppers and 3 Estates.)

— Davio's turn 3 —
   Davio plays 5 Coppers.
   Davio buys an Explorer.
(Davio draws: 2 Coppers and 3 Estates.)

  — Davio's turn 5 —
   Davio plays a Stables.
   ... discarding a Copper.
... drawing 3 cards and getting +1 action.
   Davio plays an Explorer.
... gaining a Silver in hand.
Davio plays 5 Coppers and a Silver.
   Davio buys a Market.
   (Davio reshuffles.)
(Davio draws: 2 Coppers and 3 Estates.)

   — Davio's turn 8 —
   Davio plays a Market.
   ... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action, +1 buy, and +$1.
   Davio plays a Stables.
   ... discarding a Copper.
... drawing 3 cards and getting +1 action.
   Davio plays an Explorer.
... gaining a Silver in hand.
Davio plays 4 Coppers and 2 Silvers.
   Davio buys a Gold.
   Davio buys a Scheme.
(Davio draws: 2 Coppers and 3 Estates.)

So, I already started 5/2 and drew 2 Coppers with 3 Estates three more times after that! First time this has happened to me.
And that's right, I bought an Explorer! Sorry to my opponent, since I still won. :p

I got the King's Court +Masquerade part of the pin going, so I was trashing pieces of my opponent's hand every turn, but there were no discard attacks in the kingdom, so I couldn't completely lock them down.  Which meant they spent a huge number of turns sitting through my long-drawn-out Highway>KC+Masq turns, watching their deck be slowly trashed, trying desperately to see if there was something they could do to stop me from destroying their whole deck...and they did slow me down; each card they Masqueraded into my deck was one less that I could trash from their hand on the next turn, and at one point they even forced me to pass them one of the highways I wanted to keep, but really, I think they were doomed.

First time I've ever used KC+Masq...it's stupid.

I've used this thread semi-snarkily a few times, but this time is completely legit:

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201201/08/game-20120108-105848-9ae24b01.html

Dear NDOG332,

I am completely sorry that the first four times you played a Young Witch, I had one of my two Pawns (bane cards) in hand, while you never had one of your numerous Pawns in hand any of the eight times I played Young Witch.  That is the sign of an unjust God if ever there was one.

Sincerely,
Epoch

I pulled off the pin for the first time a couple days ago:

http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120107-212753-32425df4.html

First turn that I left my opponent with 0 cards in hand, he just said "wow." He was somewhat new; said it was his first game with King's Court. I was quite happy to get it. :)

KC, Alchemist, Scrying Pool, Jester, only 1 Buy and NO trashing.
What do you get? A game like this: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201201/09/game-20120109-133939-a9bb4a0d.html

I'm sorry my deck exploded so soon, giving me 4 consecutive Provinces in turns 12, 13, 14 and 15, nagging some great cards with a KC'd Jester.
I'm even more sorry my deck crumbled shortly after, making us go through the motions of grabbing Gardens, Duchies and Estates until finally, at turn 30, you bought the last Province to put us both out of our misery.

I could have probably played more humane by buying some hard needed cash or other cards when I grabbed an (almost due to Gardens) unassailable lead.  I switched to auto pilot instead and just bought greens.  ;)

Hmm, well I haven't seen a kingdom like this come up in awhile, so I took a little longer to enjoy myself thoroughly.

$5: City, Ghost Ship, Treasury, Upgrade, Vault
$4: Bridge, Conspirator, Worker's Village
$3: Workshop
$2: Native Village

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201201/10/game-20120110-201607-600a884e.html

The turns were fairly tame for the most part, but I got a lot of VP on turn 16.

   — FishingVillage's turn 16 —
   FishingVillage plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   FishingVillage plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   FishingVillage plays a Worker's Village.
... drawing 1 card and getting +2 actions and +1 buy.
   FishingVillage plays a Conspirator.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$2.
   FishingVillage plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   FishingVillage plays a Conspirator.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$2.

   FishingVillage plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   FishingVillage plays a Ghost Ship.
   ... drawing 2 cards.
... Fucoid Mass puts 2 cards back on the deck.
... Khaim puts 2 cards back on the deck.
   FishingVillage plays a Bridge.
... getting +1 buy, +$1, and reducing all costs by $1.
   FishingVillage plays a Bridge.
... getting +1 buy, +$1, and reducing all costs by $1.
   FishingVillage plays a Bridge.
... getting +1 buy, +$1, and reducing all costs by $1.
   FishingVillage plays a Workshop.
   ... gaining a Duchy.
   FishingVillage plays a Workshop.
   ... gaining a Vault.
   FishingVillage plays 3 Coppers.
   FishingVillage buys a Province.
   FishingVillage buys a Province.
   FishingVillage buys a Province.
   (FishingVillage draws: a Copper, a Province, a Worker's Village, a Silver, and a City.)

I let the other players know what I was up to too, right from the start. That they didn't try the same thing, meant I felt pretty confident about steamrolling them.

I probably should've started trashing a lot earlier, but I wanted to see if I could finish the game with all my Coppers and Estates remaining in my deck and no additional treasure. I couldn't get to that point though :( I really wanted to Workshop a Province too.

For those interested, I have the chat room log attached.

It was after midnight, and I wanted "just one more game".  I opened Silver/Moneylender, got a Turn 3 King's Court, and the best target I saw?  The lowly but flexible Pawn.

http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120110-224006-9086c343.html

I then proceeded to buy 8 over my next 5 turns, while Moneylender cleared out my Coppers.  Apart from the inexplicable Coppersmith purchase at Turn 11 (yeah it helped my Horn of Plenty get to $7, but Herbalist is clearly better in a copper-free deck), I think it was a good strategy, and I probably was in a very good position.

BUT... it meant I was playing a ton of pawns every turn (14 on my last turn!).

And with my Horn able to nab more KC's, it was only going to get worse.

Now, I try very hard to avoid analysis paralysis (AP) on Pawns -- I think it's rude and saps fun from the game.  My strategy is usually clear enough in my mind that I know exactly what I want from my Pawns.  Even so... playing on my laptop with no mouse, it took a fair bit of time to click on everything I wanted to do.

My opponent resigned after my 14-Pawn, KC + double-Province turn.  Despite my dominant position, I was thinking of resigning myself, just because moving the trackpoint was so tedious!

That reminds me of Annotated Game #5, where DG crushes me with KC + Quarry + Pawn.  It's a pretty great strategy, I think, but totally not in my playstyle, and definitely has a ridiculously high time/turn ratio.

Sorry to both of my opponents for my IGG rush being so cruely effective and making the game more boring. Also sorry for buying a curse to end the game. That was a little bad mannered as it just rubbed in the big lead I had, but it had to be done to end it. GG

A different kind of sorry.

I'm sorry, jonts26, that I declined the auto-match proposals for us to play a game.
It's just, sometimes I pull up Iso to play a quick game without having to think that much, just to relax; it's nothing personal.

And I know that after I play a game with you or any other top 10 player, my brain will be hurting all over and I won't be able to sleep for a few hours.
This wouldn't be a problem if it wouldn't cause my wife to also not be able to sleep.  :P

It's not a habit or a strategic thing that I won't play against any higher level, but sometimes I'm just not looking for that kind of game.

Oh that's fine. I really didn't think anything of it. If I took every time someone declined an automatch game with me personally, I'd be in trouble.

Dear my opponent,
I'm sorry you are not an experienced player... but the pattern native village / bridge is simple enough to be predicted...
And yes, I was really really a bad guy, letting you come closer to empty 3 piles, but having the experience of "... picking up 22 cards from the Native Village mat."

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201201/18/game-20120118-042956-aa93d5f8.html

yes, 8 bridges played in the same hand (7 would have been enough) and yes, 8 provinces taken for 0.

not a good choiche for you, my dear opponent, to go for gardens too early :)

Dear my opponent,

I am not sorry, but actually very jealous of your sportsmanship.
You typed "!resign" after turn 7, but your Chrome plugin was not running and even if it had, I don't know if that command is actually supported.  ???
I explained how to resign with the regular buttons, but you stuck with it and completed the game anyway.

And it wasn't even that big of a wash, only 55 - 31.

Dear Wandering Winder,

Sorry about our game, as I said before the match started, I'm a big fan of your articles, and the match happened to be Duke/Horse Traders, which happens to be one of the first articles that I'd read and tried to simulate. As the writer of the article you of course see it, and the only reason why I one was your awful shuffle luck. Thanks for accepting my match, and I did enjoy playing you, though I cringed when looking at the log showing your hands.

A fan,
Ferrouswheel

Dear th2w0,

I'm sorry I not only got the best possible Forge reshuffle but also typed "gg" prematurely on http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201202/03/game-20120203-005001-a9c15a83.html -- the way you ended this I thought for sure you'd pulled it out.

Dear ddubois,

I'm sorry my opening Sea Hag Sea Hagged your Sea Hag, with predictable consequences.

(My Shanty Town/Sea Hag opening proved rather unsuccessful when they collided, but I'm not sure it's necessarily a bad one.)

Dear my opponent,

I am sorry that I build a Torturer engine faster than you (at least you saw that Talisman can be pretty good card sometimes) and then I started playing 5 Torturer every turn. I am also sorry, that I didn't end the game on 3-piling with Great Halls, but I sadisticly bought some Hoards and was preparing for a mega turn later. I was really enjoying that end, sorry...
