Treasure Map in mid game?

Today, I had a game with Treasure Maps and other cards that made a fairly good draw engine.  I considered going for the Treasure Maps mid game, but was hesitant because I was afraid they would either clog up my deck when I couldn't find a match, or the four Golds I'd be rewarded with wouldn't help me that much at that point, since I could gain a Gold or more per turn anyhow.

Does anyone have any examples of games where they bought Treasure Maps mid game or late, and it worked out well?

It worked out for me in this game, but I think I got a little lucky.

If you get to a point where you are consistently drawing your deck, some treasure maps could be a good investment.

Similar story:

Was drawing almost full deck off of council room / fishing village, but only had 8$ in deck, so 2 buys and an action = +12 buying power.

There are too many situations to mention where treasure maps become good mid game. Really! Most of them are based on the certainty that you will draw them together within a couple of turns. Sometimes it's quite important to keep control of the size and drawing of your deck and then expand it at the right time with quality cards. Delayed treasure maps can certainly do that for you.

I basically only ever buy Treasure Map in this sort of situation: early to mid-game, I can draw my deck more or less every turn but don't have much buying power.

+1. Many player underestimate this, when you can draw your deck anyway TM is really good.

Treasure maps create good bishop fuel.

Treasure maps create good bishop fuel.
Remodel fuel, too.

(edit) One of the fastest face-to-face games I've played involved Fishing Village, Treasure Map, Remodel, and there must have been some TM enabler as well (can't remember exactly what it was). It was a quick race to turn the riches the Treasure Maps brought us into prosperous land.

they work well if you can gain them during your turn (i remade (remake-ed?) silvers -> treasure maps in a game recently), then draw them, and then draw the golds. although all those golds might cause problems if you are using menagerie as the draw engine.

I did the treasure maps mid-game with this set: Black Market, Bridge, Chapel, Familiar, Farming Village, Lighthouse, Potion, Torturer, Transmute, Treasure Map, and Treasury.

Farming Village+Torturer+Bridge. Bought two maps then trashed them next turn. Opponent resigned 2 turns later. He tried to go Potion+Black Market which was a mistake IMHO. Makes up for the previous game where I lost to a Festival/Torturer engine w/Loan as trasher when my opponent opened Silver/Throne Room ?!?. go figure.

I would definitely go treasure maps if you had the engine to draw your deck or a good portion of it and have a leftover action to treasure map midgame. In some cases I'd rather build my engine and then treasure map rather than race for the Treasure Map.
