I don't like the taste of Alcohol, so I mostly drink tea.
One doesnt drink alcofol for the taste though.

Oh I disagree! Taste is very much the driving factor. If I don't enjoy it, I won't drink it. Take Jagermeister for example. Yuch.

Same here.  I like a number of beers, wines, and hard liquors but I only drink what I think tastes good.

I enjoy fancy IPA beers, and single malt scotches.

My favorite of the former is Southern Tier 2x IPA.  I'm drinking a 90 minute dogfish head right now.  I have a case of Heady Topper (if you're ever in vermont and can try this out - its amazing!) in my basement.

Tonight - I will be trying Stone's 10th Anniversery Ruination IPA - which I'm really excited about.

On the scotch front, my favorite drinking scotch is Oban 14.

Just had two bottles of 10th anniversary last weekend. It was good... Smoother than the standard, not quite as hoppy. Certainly not bad though!

90 minute is too sweet for my tastes. Actually, that's true of many Dogfish Head. I love their unique style, and will try everything they produce, but I haven't found one I love. I've heard the 120 is much hoppier than the 90, but we don't get it out in California. :'(

OTOH, I live an hour from Bear Republic, Lagunitas, Russian River, and many others, so I can't complain TOO much.

Oh, Stone has a new Triple IPA out! I haven't been able to get my hands on some yet, but have been considering driving down south to Escondido to visit the brewhouse!

I haven't had the 90 minute in a while - and I think I agree with your assessment.  The 120 minute is way too much for me... and the fact that each 12 oz bottle costs $10 doesn't help.

You probably can't get Southern Tier on the left coast, but if you're ever in the NE area - its worth checking out.  Delicious!

IPAs are one type of beer I really don't like; I've tried several of them but I often can't finish them.  My tastes tend more towards dark beers or "red" beers.  Although my go-to cheap beer is Rolling Rock.

(They've started selling Yuengling in Ohio so when I go back there I can get some regularly...)

I wish i could remember who it was - (reasonably high level fellow) who went on a diatribe against me when I said that Yuengling was my goto cheap beer.  He worked for sam adams, and went on about how Yuengling was just as bad as Bud / Coors etc., but manages to cultivate a semi-craft vibe.

He started talking about different hops varieties and the cheap hops that most american brewers use vs. the expensive hops that Sam Adams uses  - and despite enjoying beer - I didn't know anything about it and kindof lost interest.

My viewpoint was that Yuengling was tasty among cheap beers.... and sam adams was fine - but if I"m going to pay for my beer - then i'm usually buying micro brew.

If you're out there friend - would you like to teach me about hops varieties and why sam adams is the real king of beers?

See, I found it lacked the umph of a good 'ol regular bottle of Ruination. It certainly doesn't seem to shock the palate in the same way. It was still enjoyable. In the Racer-5 (my go-to beer) category, but not up to Racer-X or just Ruination.

I've heard good things about Knee-Deep, but haven't been able to try it. Anybody  get a chance? It comes from the North Bay (San Francisco), but is back ordered everywhere I go even in these parts (~45 minutes south of SF).

Following up on another post you made elsewhere, the 10.8% is on the high end (most of what I drink is 8% - 11.5% range), but I dunno. It didn't really jump out at me. I opened with that Friday night and followed it up with Ruination, Sumtin' Sumtin' (not my favorite, but not bad), Racer-5, Ruination, and finished with Hops-on-Rye. The 10th anniversary just... Felt like it had the smallest kick of the group (I'll admit, I split the 22 oz though (11 each) so maybe I didn't appreciate it fully).

Well - that sounds like quite the night.  After the child and a year of living in the burbs, my tolerance is reduced.  A 90 minute + this 22oz 10.8%, and I'm ready to party!

It's a shame you're on left coast - sounds like I'd like to try some of these fancy IPAs that I've never heard of.

I'm just glad someone on these forums shares and appreciates the same style of beverage as I do. ;)

I'll usually have one beer Sunday afternoon, two Saturday evening, and if I'm going to get drunk it's Friday night. I don't drink at all during the week.

All of these beers are widely available on the East coast and with the exception of the the 10th Anniv. have been for years.

Lagunitas has been around for an exceptionally long time. Bear Republic has been around for a few years at least. Port Brewing is much less available since a year or so ago when I dropped out of the scene but it can be found. If you have specialty beer shops in your area it is usually best to see if the brewing company is on their distributor's list and if so then move towards requesting they procure specific beers. I have been fortunate enough to live near 3 outstanding specialty beer shops; Peabody's in Boone, NC, City Beverage in Winston-Salem, NC and Bruisin' Ales in Asheville, NC. Also, Total Wine is an area chain that can and usually does carry all of the above brewers' beers (and the listed beers are flagship products, really).

Fat Tire isn't my favorite brewer, but I'll drink their brews. They certainly aren't terrible (sadly empty atm):

Fat Tire is apparently using the same yeast in all of their beers because they all have the same biscuity flavor that I found cloyingly annoying after the 1st one or two I tried. It may be the water over there in Fort Collins but the flavor is distinctly yeast phenol. Additionally, they are opening a new brewery in Asheville, NC so I suspect for consistency's sake the water is probably RO or something.

I drink anything that has any alcohol content in it. I have a long list of preferences, but, in the end, everything goes.

Tried to stay clear from this thread though.

-Edit- Some of the Irish Milk Stouts are REALLY, REALLY delicious.

This. Ever had the Left-Handed Milk Stout? I also like Cream Ales for a treat, especially Boddington's.

Love Blue Moon, but feel a little dirty about it since I found out how phony it is. And Fat Tire, Newcastle, Yeungling when I'm poor.

It's absolutely about the taste though. There's nothing pleasant about being drunk (and if you don't believe me, ask a glass of water).

Tried to stay clear from this thread though.

I used to go through phases where I would drink loads of one drink (JD+coke, Tequila, Jaegerbombs) when out

Now I only seem to drink Cider or wine it seems!
