I think I fell in love with a beer tonight: Hoegarden's Original Belgian Wheat. So smooth.

Ugh, my tastes do not mimic yours, Jotheonah.  Of course I spend last night drinking Budweiser Select and Amber Bock.  In my defense, I was at the bowling alley, and they do not exactly have quality choices there.

New Belgium's Mothership Wit or even their Sunshine Wheat are decent. I wasn't much of a wheat beer fan although I always had hopes of finding one I really liked because the general idea of their craft appeals to me. I know a lot of people really like the Hoegarden but it was definitely not for me.

Blue Moon started me on the path to good beer. It's still a standby, but nowadays I find it a little uninspired.

Their Belgian White was something that I bought by the keg twice a year for weekend-long band parties I would throw (this is 15 years ago).  It was light, crisp, slightly citrus, and was the first beer that I'd ever had that I would call refreshing, especially on a hot day.  Sadly, the bottled product was not the same, and now it has changed even on tap.  Uninspired is a great word for it.

You're talking of the Hoegarden? I had it on tap, and I have to say I found it to be all those things you mentioned. But, then, I don't know what I was missing!

Jo - If your question is addressed to me, I was speaking of Blue Moon (their Belgian White).  Widely available now, it was unavailable in bottles 15 years ago (at least in the Pacific NW, where I was at the time).

I seriously hope you had this in a frosted cold glass which is the intended way of serving?

Cause god forbid if he enjoyed it the wrong way?

Personally I still dont like any form of beer. I try some
every two years or so, but it's always as unpleasant.

Nothing to do with me, the Belgium's are very particular about their beers!

I've really stopped drinking beer the last few years and am on a bit of a Cider run at the moment.

Although Runnymede Beer Festival is coming up on Saturday...

Yes, we Belgians have a fine beer brewing tradition. Personally my favorites are Duvel (strong pale ale), La Chouffe (strong pale ale), Gueuze Girardin (sour) and De Koninck (amber pale ale) when I'm thirsty :)

I don't like Hoegaarden and I've tried Westvleteren (n°1 beer in the world) but too complex for my taste.

Our board gaming evening is always accompanied by a fine selection of beers. Favorite day of the week :)

Do you have the correctly shaped glasses for all of them?

I remember getting told off when I lived in Belgium for having the wrong glasses for everything!

No, we're no purists. We'd need a giant cupboard to store all the different types of glasses, but I must admit a beer tastes best in the correct glass.

We have this awesome girly lemonade-esque thing called lonkero  in Finland that's really good. That and vodka or rum mixes is what I drink.

Based on wikipedia, no. It's like grape lemonade with alcohol I guess.

The stuff he is talking about is quite like gin&tonic, but replacing tonic with grapefruit (not grape!) lemonade. It has a nice gin flavor, but is sweeter than G&T which is an issue for many and also explains why it has a bit of "kid's drink" -reputation. I like it, though.

It's a traditional Finnish drink, originally designed for the 1952 Olympics. Someone thought that having some readily mixed drinks would make things smoother in bars during the event, and hence invented both the grapefruit+gin combination and another even weirder drink that mixes two other unique Finnish products: Jaloviina, a mix of vodka and cognac, and Pommac, a carbonated soft drink made of some 25 different fruits/berries and matured in oak barrels. The latter mix was quickly mostly forgotten, but the one with gin and grapefruit immediately became a classic and has been selling heavily since then.

Ok, your description was def. more appetizing than Eevee's. I do like G&Ts.
