Was this really the best option here with a 3/4 split? Or would some kind of double Tac be able to compete?

Mine, Harvest, and particularly Mandarin are both better than chancellor. Tactician probably is too, but I have not done so much with tactician and JUST money, because it like NEVER comes up. Pretty sure it's worse than something mediocre like BM-smithy. Probably some combination of mandarin, tactician, maybe harvest, MAYBE mine is best here. Sucky board.

I wanna know how you took Chancellor/BM to 5 Provinces in 14 turns. Just seems... Wrong. I'm not sure how much was luck driven, and I'm not sure you could get any faster with that board, but if you could... I would have to think Double Tactition with Mandarin/Hamlet for support, maybe a Harvest late? I don't know. You could use Loan to thin down slightly, though it's not ideal.

Good luck with Chancellor can take you a long way. Here Axxle's buys were:

Silver
Chancellor
Silver
Gold
Gold
Gold
Gold
Gold
Province
Province
Province
Province
Duchy
Province

He also drew $8 for three of those Provinces and $9 for the other two. Not too shabby.

This is a kingdom where a variety of simple strategies will be of similar strength and it won't be particularly interesting to play. However there are lots of small details and weak ideas that can be teased out in simulation for small advantage. If anyone wants to have a go, we can have an open sim challenge just posting the scripts in this thread. Random start, Geronimoo's simulator.

Could do a double Tactician with Harvests/Hamlets using a Loan to get rid of your Coppers/add variety to your deck. It's a finicky, unreliable engine, but it's more fun to try than BM.

The presence of scheme makes it much more reliable. With a couple schemes in the deck, it's really hard not to keep a tactician in play. As for consistently getting $8 from harvests and/or mandarins, well that might be tougher. Still I have a weakness for double tact decks and I try them way more than I should. I would almost certainly go for it here.

Seems like an engine board to me. With Hamlets you have chances to buy things in tactician turns as well. Then you can transit to double-tac and use mandarins or harvest for money. There is trash available from loan. No draw should hurt BM more than engine here.

So thinking about it, as long as you can get 4 or 5 coppers trashed, you can come close to drawing your deck before you start greening. If that's the case, you can use hamlets to select what to discard to guarantee harvest hit $4. Then you can make do with only 2 of them. Obviously no card draw might make that too difficult to do reliably, but it's a thought.
