In a 2-player game, you have a $3 card and a $4 card at the end of turn one.  How?

Oops, I missed the "by turn one" part.

You can also have a $3 and a $6 by the end of turn 1.

Easy. Buy Noble Brigand, steal silver

Wandering Winder got the answer I was looking thinking of, since that just happened to me.  Davio's answer is also correct.

I thought of Davio's solution but not WWs. I thought it should be pointed out that Davio's solution works from 1st or 2nd player, but WWs only works if you are second player.

This one requires you to be 2nd position in a 3 player game.

Turn 1:

Player 1: Buys Noble Brigand
Player 2: Buys Trader
Player 3: Buys Ill-Gotten Gains, player 2 reveals Trader, gaining a Silver

At the end of Turn 1, Player 2 has a 3 and a 4 cost card in his/her hand.

Not in hand, because the Silver goes to the discard pile, but a nice solution anyway.

Is there any progress on shMerker's variant?

Turn 1, buy Tunnel, opponent buys Noble Brigand requiring a reshuffle and your top two cards are Tunnel and something.
