Does that make me the only 18-year-old?

cue another 18-year-old destroying my uniqueness.

I turn 18 in a couple months...

Woah. Woah. You're 17? I had a mental image of you being mid-thirties or older. No clue why.

Cool, I'm 17 too. So mail-mi and archetype are the two other forumites who can't vote yet?
Well, I'm 17, and I can't vote. Stupid laws...

Well, I'm 17, and I can't vote. Stupid laws...

I remember thinking when I was 15 (and there was a presidential election in France) that I would really like to be able to vote, but that  the fact that my classmates weren't allowed to was making me pretty happy with things overall.

I mean there's got to be a limit somewhere. 18 doesn't seem bad to me given how it interacts with school.

I've always thought there should be no threshold. If the kid can pull a lever, let 'em vote. Assuming kids too young to understand will vote randomly, then given a large enough sample they'll cancel each other out. Assuming they vote straight ticket without doing any independent research, well that makes them no different than their parents anyway. The only real downside I see is that the Mormon vote suddenly gets a lot more powerful...

I currently imagine mail-mi wearing a dark trenchcoat and a bowler hat, hunched over a bit, toothpick in his mouth, holding a gun in his pocket.  One bead of sweat trickling down his nose.

I've always thought there should be no threshold.

I read a compelling piece once advocating "vote from birth." Not saying it's necessarily a good idea, but it's not absurd on its face like it initially sounds.

Link ?

The problem with that idea is that it would be akin to giving parents extra votes. Now where the threshold is can be debatable, but I do believe there needs to be one.

That's exactly what it is, up until a certain age (12 or something I think was his proposal). I'll PM you the link since this is getting pretty RSP.

Just post the link in RSP, I'm curious too and there could be others too.

Is anyone interested in running this year's mafia game awards? Last year, the process started around this time. ash, do you have anything planned? I'm willing to support whoever's willing to run it.

I'd definitely submit nominations, though I've only played three games in 2014.

Oh cool. I looked at the old ones but they didn't mean anything to me as I hadn't played any of the games. I'm looking forward to seeing all the different things I can vote on.

So you're... 16? Wow, didn't see that coming. Welccome to the internet, be glad you don't have to put with 56K, livejournal, and AIM.
Yeah, mail-mi is too. I thought you had known that?

I knew about mail-mi. I think silverspawn and Awaclus are your age too? I think ash is the oldest, Robz and I are the same age (26), and I think WW and ADK are a little older. Sorry if everyone knows this already and I've just been out of the loop. Not sorry for invading everyone's privacy.
I didn't know silverspawn was that young! And Awaclus is older. I can't remember if he's sudgy's age, or even older than that.
I'm 19 and I think silverspawn is slightly older than me.

hey
1) how do you know
2) don't you think you should ask me before sharing something like that?

and I'm 20.

guessing age is kind of interesting; most people here are about the age I expected, but I definitely thought Arch and lio would be older.

That's interesting, because I assumed everyone was my age or older (like 21-25), turns out lots of people here are actually younger. I'm 22.
