But what if somebody--Morgrim, let's say--can't find the new thread and instead starts playing a Morgrim-only game with himself, self-hammering over and over again?

I keep reading and rereading this, and I fail to see the problem with it.

Okay then, ten fake posts to boost it to an even 2000, including a link to the new thread, and you can lock it, and recombine it when the game finishes. Sounds like a plan! (And we'll just put all-Morgrim-mafia on hiatus).

I think you're supposed to put it to #1999, then the OP of the new thread will end up becoming #2000.

we could just agree to add 2000 to each post without making dummy posts... it's not like there's going to be confusion

When the thread is merged it won't make sense.

Um, so apparently the original thread can't be quoted anymore. Can that be fixed without unlocking it?

I don't mind at all!  It is literally two seconds of effort and makes it way easier for people to click on "view all".  Just for fun I tried to click "All" on RMM3: my (work) computer crashed.

I can also make topics display more than 25 posts per page, but perhaps navigation is easier with that number?  But if you've thought to yourself, man I'd love to see 50 posts per page you should speak up and let me know.  It is a forum-wide setting apparently.

Posts per page can be set in personal options to 50 anyways

Yes - this is what I do and I love it.... except when people refer to page numbers.

Frisk - I've not really noticed, but am I the only person that uses page numbers in mafia?  If so, I can quit using them (it's actually more work to quote them).  I may go to 50/page myself.

I use 10/page myself.  Makes each page less daunting.

Day 3 will start in a new thread. Please do not post in this thread. We are going to have exactly 1,999 posts in this thread, so whenever anyone references a post number, you can simply add exactly 2,000.

Here is the Day 3 thread: http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=4983.0

I'll unlock it then.  We'll just have to accept the risk of an all-Morgrim Mafia game.

Thanks. Can we just delete/remove any posts that appear?

Morgrim actually hasn't checked in yet, or been online in 4 days. He better get back here! The only thing crazier than Morgrim would be making a FOURTH replacement to the game.

It's VERY different, playing IRL. No pouring over people's past statements is the big thing. A bit of advice: Pay extra attention to votes. If somebody's scumpartner is up for vote, they are much more likely not to vote for that person because you don't always have time to weigh whether busing is desirable. Also, votes don't trickle in one at a time. Also, also, scum don't have days and days to decide who to kill.

Obviously it's a less rigorously strategic game, but still all-consuming and a lot of fun.

Well, I play a LOT more online, so I'm pretty partial to it, now. There's a lot more room for cool roles, since everything is written down. However, I will say that IRL mafia is TONS of fun with the right people. It's great stress-inducing fun. Everyone is so paranoid of each other.
