So I'm not usually one to bother with game reports, but what happened after this match confused me slightly, the following (short) exchange occurred, and I really don't know why:

14:54 Thisisnotasmile: ...
14:55 cherdano: was just trying desperation measures after you had 3 gold ahead of me
14:55 cherdano has returned to the lobby.

Now, was this really "not a gg" because my (level 38) opponent didn't have a chance after I got three Golds? From where I was sitting he only had himself to blame for dropping behind on the Golds. The reason he couldn't get any $6 hands was because he spent $5 on Lighthouses on turns 6, 8, 9 AND 13.

Was my opponent just being a bad loser, or was there something I've missed and actually, my win was undeserved?

Answers on a postcard... or just on a post in this thread.

Sounds more like he was talking about his play, calling what he had done not a good game because he tried some desperate things to come back, which didn't work at all. Did you say gg before this exchange occured?

It's not uncommon to me that someone says the usual gg and I think "well, not really, I played very badly." Maybe that's what he meant.

There are several reasons why I might think something was NOT a good game.

-I think you played really badly
-I think I played really badly
-I think we both played really badly
-We both pretty much played the same boring strategy - doubleJack or IGG rush or something - and there wasn't much happening here that was original.
-There was a huge spike in luck for one side or another, such that, even if it may have been an interesting game with diverging strategies, one player or the other could not get their strategy off the ground at all because they drew so badly
-I feel like you were being a real jerk, either in what you said or how you played (i.e. taking long long pauses every turn)

I don't know if any of these apply here, but I wouldn't take it too personally.

Might be a case of language barrier too (he was meaning to say "man I played bad" or something).

Heh, I didn't mean to imply anything about your play, or that your victory was undeserved. Reading it here I can see how it can come across the wrong way though - sorry.

I fully understand that "gg" has become a shorthand for "Thanks for the game", but sometimes I still take it to mean "This was a good game." When the latter is wasn't really the case, I sometimes make a joke (hence the smiley!) about it. For me a good game is one that is interesting, well-played by both sides, and reasonably close for most of the way. Here, two of the three weren't the case (not well played by me, and it was basically decided early on).

I certainly didn't play very well but I don't see why this decision in particular is a big deal - Lighthouse has almost the same buying power as all the $5 cards in the game (unless it misses reshuffles, which is a pretty big "unless" to admit), and given that it protects against Mountebank, it's certainly not a lot worse than the $5 cards in the game.

My spice merchant purchase on turn 5 on the other hand...if I want to buy it at all, I should open with it.
