Who would be interested in playing a forum resistance game?
We need at least 5 people + 1 person to hand out roles.
Also mention if you are interested in playing with the plot cards

Yes, yes, a million times yes.

I prefer no plot cards but then again that's just because they don't go well with the variant my group play with the most (which is official but as yet unreleased).

Awesome! I'm a big fan of Resistance!

I'm in, if that's ok (I'm also in one of the Mafia games).

I 100% vote plot cards. More actual information going around distinguishes it from Mafia, more reasoning based on what people do and less stuff based on "acting suspicious".

So we need a list of rules decisions to determine the setup (I've only played like 2-3 times)
1. Should spies know each others identities?
1a. If they do is pregame communication allowed with eachother via PM
2. Plot Cards?
2a. If we do should we play with the Opinion Maker (One player must vote publicly and first) card? (My feeling is no because it will slow down the game too much)
3. Should voting be simultaneous (PM to the mod and then reveal) or is public posting in the forum acceptable?

Of course spies should know each others' identities, but they should not be allowed to communicate by PM... at all. It's not enforcable but spies can't communicate privately in real life so that's how it should be. Getting two fails on a mission is a huge blow to spies and it will never happen if they can communicate.

My votes for that:
1. Slight preference for yes
1a. Slight preference for No. In IRL resistance, there's no hidden communication at all, we can keep that here, no pms between players. Extra communication makes things a little easier for the spies in the case where they both go on a mission.
2. Yes!
2a. Doesn't matter to me, I suppose.
3. Simultaneous; it eliminates a little bit of bandwagoning, since there won't be any people who know their votes don't matter.

...but I've never played forum resistance, so if anyone has and knows which ways turn out best, I'd be happy to defer.

I'm a little overwhelmed with mafia at the moment, I would have liked to play if that wasn't the case.  I have never played resistance without plot cards myself, I thought they were an ingenious addition to the game!

Yeah, that's a fair point...

I'd prefer to wait until my Mafia game is over, but I don't want to miss the Resistance game, so I'm conflicted.

[edit]I guess I might sit this one out. It's starting a little later than the mafia, and depending on the time to take turns and so on, I'll have to miss some of it because I'll be very sporadic for a week in early June, 7th through 17th. I told pops about that before starting the mafia game too, he said that that would still work for the mafia game, but it probably wouldn't here. [/edit]

Sounds fun! I would play, but since I'm already an active player in both Mafia games, I should probably sit this one out and give others a chance. Not to mention a third game would be too much to keep track of. In the future, I would play though!

I have moderated games of forum resistance before, and in fact am running one in progress over on another forum. It's here if you want to take a look (and from the topic name you can probably guess, there's a third and a second and a first one - the first wasn't run with the proper rules, the 2nd kinda was but didn't work properly (tried to make it work for 11 players - don't do that), the 3rd was a full game with the correct rules). A few things in e.g. the rules require a little familiarity with the mafia system and general forum workings but nothing should be overly confusing.

It's not much effort to run, so if you guys want I'd be happy to do so. If not, I'm also happy to send my spreadsheet (google docs) to whoever does decide to run the games, as that pretty much does everything automatically for you. It's equiped for Mission Targeting and sorta equiped for plot cards.

Sounds interesting. I couldn't find the full rulebook at that, but I did look over the quick reference guide.

Count me in.

I have little opinion on the game questions. I get the impression that spies do know their identities IRL, so that should happen here. Since F2F games do not allow spies to communicate, I would say not here. It wouldn't take much for the spies to quickly devise a code. "If I ever say 'purple' that means I will sabotage it. If I ever say 'battleship' that means you should sabotage it." Or, you know, with actual code words that don't suck.

I leave it to the other players to determine the other settings.
