Greatest Isotropic Moments of 2012

This topic was split from the Greatest Isotropic Moments of 2011 thread

Sadly this was on the 9th... But I can't resist, so here's a challenge to beat for next year ^_^

http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120109-082209-c5d53456.html

#1 Biderman: 317 points (227 ▼, 7 Colonies, 5 Nobles, a Province, and 4 Estates); 24 turns
          opening: Wharf / nothing
#2 mayasquer: 49 points (3 Provinces, a Colony, 2 Duchies, 3 Nobles, 5 Estates, and 4 ▼); 25 turns

If not the most points, I'm willing to bet I got the most points in one turn.... 30 buys, 6 Goons in play, I buy 4 Colonies, 1 Provence, 1 Estate, and 18 Coppers for a total of 180+40+6+1=227 points in one turn. The sad thing about this turn is that I had $54 and there were 5 Colonies left :/

I'm sure your opponents deck was in no position to come back, but it would seem the correct move in that position would have been to buy the 5 remaining Provinces, 1 Colony and 1 Estate for 41 points instead of 4 Colonies 1 Province and 1 Estate for 47 points.  This nets 6 less points, (and reduces the mega turn to 221 total points) but would have ended the game.

True. I actually could have gone through the provinces a few turns earlier but when you realize u can pick up Platnums while gaining 10 VPs a turn indefinitely...

I just played this game. The last turn makes this game a great moment. After this I raged at the swindler IRL with 20 curse words. I also said "REALLY" 3 times in-chat when that happened. My opponent just lol'ed. Good game benj4130

But you weren't going to win if you had bought that Colony anyway...

Is there going to be a 2012 thread?

--- colin's turn 11 ---
colin does nothing.
(colin draws: a Black Market, a Silver, a Copper, and 2 Curses.)

   --- chriskern's turn 11 ---
   chriskern does nothing.
(chriskern draws: a Black Market, a Curse, 2 Silvers, and an Envoy.)

      --- Rick's turn 11 ---
      Rick does nothing.
(Rick draws: an Estate, 2 Coppers, and 2 Curses.)

This is the result of Sea Hag + no 2-cost card.  Even so I've never seen all 3 players skip their turns in a row.

Props to everyone else's stuff, definitely some good lulz in there!

Nine empty piles at the end of this game.  (I've never seen more than six empty piles in any other game.)  49 buys on my last turn, 61 total buys in my last two turns.

Finally, an epic fail which I'm sure many of you are familiar with but many players probably haven't seen it either.

This is from a turn after I got possessed, and I have not bothered to include some actions before I played the Outpost.  Look what happens at the end:

Wolphmaniac plays an Outpost.
Wolphmaniac plays a Silver and 5 Coppers.
   Wolphmaniac buys a Gardens.
   Wolphmaniac buys a Gardens.
Wolphmaniac returns a Silver to the top of the deck.
   (Wolphmaniac reshuffles.)
(Wolphmaniac draws: a Silver, a Copper, and an Estate.)

--- drvitek's turn 10 ---

So yeah...never play an Outpost after getting Possessed!  You end up with no extra turn AND a 3-card hand on your next turn!

Opening Throne Room-Swindler is always a risky prospect. On the off chance you do collide, you've likely won the game.

Unless....

— allfail's turn 3 —
allfail plays a Throne Room.
... and plays a Swindler.
... ... getting +$2.
... ... O turns up an Estate and trashes it.
... ... replacing O's Estate with an Estate.
... and plays the Swindler again.
... ... getting +$2.
... ... O turns up an Estate and trashes it.
... ... replacing O's Estate with an Estate.
allfail plays 3 Coppers.
allfail buys a Governor.
(allfail draws: 2 Estates and 3 Coppers.)

Yes, yes, the 2011 list hasn't been published yet, but since people are already starting to submit their great 2012 moments, I think it'd be best to move them into this topic.

So even though the logs don't explicitly say what is passed with Masquerade, it's not too hard to piece it together from this bit of the game log:

Code: [Select]
   — michaeljb's turn 13 —
michaeljb plays a Stash and 2 Coppers.
   michaeljb buys a Silver.
(michaeljb draws: a Gold, a Silver, a Copper, and 2 Curses.)

— Tarski's turn 14 —
Tarski plays a Village.
... drawing 1 card and getting +2 actions.
Tarski plays a Masquerade.
... drawing 2 cards.
... trashing a Curse.
Tarski plays a Masquerade.
... drawing 2 cards.
... trashing a Curse.
Tarski plays a Gold and a Copper.
Tarski buys a Walled Village.
(Tarski draws: a Gold, a Walled Village, 2 Coppers, and a Curse.)

   — michaeljb's turn 14 —
michaeljb plays a Gold, a Silver, and 3 Coppers.
   michaeljb buys a Province.
   (michaeljb reshuffles.)
(michaeljb draws: 3 Stashes, a Silver, and an Estate.)

He trashed 2 of my Curses for me, giving me Coppers in exchange. How nice of him!

Cross-posted from game reports.

Context: My opponent has 6 Provinces, I have 2 Islands and no other points. I've spent all game screwing up and building some very slow Horn of Plenty-Remake-City engine. Then on turn 18...

(Plays a bunch of Cities and other actions)
GendoIkari plays a Horn of Plenty.
   ... gaining a Province.
... trashing the Horn of Plenty.
GendoIkari plays a Horn of Plenty.

I don't know if people piledrive Colonies in one turn very often, but for me it's still a rare sight, more so when using Highway (no +Buy) instead of Bridge, relying on Council Room and 2 KC'd Festivals to get exactly 8 Buys:

Code: [Select]

My lower level player goes for an odd treasure-map based strategy that gets crushed by my Trading Post turn 1 -> BM. But his last turn might have made it all worth it...

sullamenashe plays a Golem.
... (sullamenashe reshuffles.)
... revealing an Estate, a Silver, a Treasure Map, a Copper, a Gold, a Gold, a Silver, and a Watchtower.
... discarding the 2 Silvers, the Estate, the Copper, and the 2 Golds.
... playing the Treasure Map first.
... ... trashing the Treasure Map.
... ... trashing a Treasure Map from hand.
... ... gaining 4 Golds on the deck.
... playing the Watchtower second.
... ... drawing 4 cards.
sullamenashe plays 2 Silvers and 4 Golds.
sullamenashe buys a Duchy.
sullamenashe puts a Golem back on the deck.
(sullamenashe draws: 2 Silvers, a Golem, a Hamlet, and a Trading Post.)

I never had gotten The Flash or Megaturn achievements until today. I wasn't expecting to get both of them in the same game..

Embassy, King's Court, Bridge on the board. We both open 5/2 and I get damn close to an optimal game (You probably can pull off 8 provinces turn 7/8, I don't think colonies.
