Isotropic will give you +4$ if you reveal to differently named but same type treasure cards (such as gold and silver). The Intrigue rulebook says "You get bonuses for the types of cards revealed". It's my understanding that you would get +2$ from gold and silver. Example here on turn 14: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201205/03/game-20120503-121047-597f2e41.html

Tribute says 'for each differently named card'

Gold and Silver are two different names so +$4. Silver and Silver for instance are not, so only +$2.

iirc, the card text always takes priority over the rulebooks.  In this case, Tribute reads: The player to your left reveals then discards the top 2 cards of his deck. For each differently named card revealed, if it is an… Action Card; +2 Actions; Treasure Card; +$2; Victory Card; +2 Cards.

Isotropic is correct.

The rulebook is clarifying that you get bonuses for the types of the cards revealed, so revealing a Harem (both Treasure AND Victory) would give you +2 cards AND +$2. (So, revealing a Harem and a Silver would give you +2 cards, +$4, or revealing 2 harems would give you +2 cards, +$2). It's not overriding the text that you get the bonuses for each differently named card revealed.

Intrigue was the first set I owned and we played Tribute wrong because of this little rulebook page... until I learned the truth on Isotropic!

I don't see how this rule book entry conflicts with the card text. "You get bonuses for the types of cards revealed counting only the different cards." Note it doesn't say "different card types". It's the different cards that you look at, which from the Tribute card text excludes differently named cards, but not cards of the same type.
