So...has anyone heard from Qvist?

He was right in the middle of finishing up his great lists things, and then all of a sudden stopped coming on the site completely, since mid-february. Does anyone know him or has anyone heard from him? It's a little disconcerting.

That's some good detective work there. Now, why would he up and leave? Did someone threaten him? Or his family????? I think we have a mystery.....

So he didn't go inactive here because he hates Dominion, as he is defending it there...

Man, Google translate has a long way to go still when it comes to German.

"The question of the fun of Dominion"

That seems OK to me.  I can imagine English threads titled "The question of X".

I'm still alive. DStu contacted me. No apologizes here. Just wanted to say, that illness and real life problems kept me away from playing and therefore from visiting this forum.
I will post the Potion cost cards today and hope to visit this forum more regularly. I promise. Sorry for all the waiting.

You're right, the title's OK; it's more that the whole thread requires ... great patience to read as translated by Google. My own fault for not speaking German. As for the title, I think it's the definite article that makes it clunky. A smoother translation would be maybe "The question of fun in Dominion."

Qvist, glad you're all right!

I only registered because of the Dominion thread, because I had to defend Dominion. I don't read that much in the forum. But I really love the board game video reviews.

I spoke with him on Facebook recently.  He stopped playing Dominion for a little while and hasn't found the time to get back in.  Hopefully that will eventually change.

I still think it's amazing he's the #3 poster (for a couple more hours, at least) despite not having visited the forum since January.

I checked the statistics page after reading this for fun, and found this bit of interesting (or depressing) information...

Male to Female Ratio:   19.6:1

I've seen MMORPG boards with far better ratios  ::)

I think it's interesting that when I go to tournaments and play with friends and stuff, there's a decent amount of women and my woman friends get into it and stuff, the game seems to appeal a decent amount to everyone. I suppose it's just the act of registering and talking about it on a forum that's the issue =P

Well, I don't think Davio's liable to make the necessary couple posts for a while, given the time zones.

http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?action=stats at the bottom of the main page

The book "Word Freak" has an interesting discussion on women in competitive boardgaming.  The author notes that although there are successful women at the top level of Scrabble, they tend to approach the game very differently than men.  They don't play anagram games over and over, or scowl at their opponents in the social areas, or anything like that.  Maybe more women read this forum than post in it or participate in flamewars over point counters and multiplayer.

Since this thread has forked once already: Did anyone find Mean Mister Mustard after his absence in the tourney was noted?

Wow, we've almost beaten the total new posts and new topics stats of 2011 already and it's only May. We've already beaten the pageview stat from last year and the most users on at once. Only thing that's happening at the same pace is new members.

2011 only started in June, so it's not as huge of a change as you might think, although it is a considerable increase.
