For my next solo challenge, you're going to need a partner. You'll be working together with another player to complete the challenge. So sign up here if you want to play and state the times you'll be able to play to complete the challenge. I will then randomly and based on available play time pair each player. If you have someone in mind already, you can play with that person if he accepts.
I'll declare and start the challenge when enough players have signed up (enough=when I feel like it).

Maybe this is a silly question, but is this challenge something that could be done by playing against yourself in another browser window? Also, if I don't sign up here and find a partner later, can I still submit?

Yes, this could also be done by using a second browser, but that's going to make the challenge less interesting.

I'm interested.

Best times to play next week, all times EST

Probably not Saturday
Sunday ~1 pm - 2 pm
Most days except Wednesday: 8 pm - 11 pm
(I won't necessarily be online during those times but can be if arranged in advance.)

Not enough interest for this challenge, so I'm going to cancel.

Why don't you post the details of the challenge so it may generate more interest?

It was this: One player may only buy green cards and the other is not allowed to buy green cards. End the game by emptying the Provinces. Possession is not allowed. Shortest # turns wins.

I like it, but the wording needs clarity, because I assume you want to restrict more than just "buys"... after all, the "no buys allowed challenge" ends the game with all 8 Provinces and no buying of green cards. So you need to say "cannot buy or gain"... except you probably want to allow "involuntary" gaining, such as Ambassador. Masquerade isn't a gain, so no issue there.

Yeah I'm a little confused by this. If gaining is allowed, governor seems like it would be completely dominant over something like farmlanding estates into ironworks or a nobles/harem type of deal. But if gaining isn't allowed, how do you end it on provinces?

Or would the two be working together to use things like Ambassador and Masq to fill in the gaps in the other player's decks?

The basic idea should be obvious, but I didn't work out all the necessary restrictions and rules because of the lack of interest.

Being banned from buying green cards is barely a restriction, since the Forge challenge solutions work around it with only a tiny loss in speed. So maybe something like: one player may not gain Victory cards, and the other player may not buy non-Victory cards (but is allowed to gain non-Victory cards). Actually, I can think of multiple solutions even if the victory player may not gain non-Victory cards.

This is a really cool idea.  Unfortunately, it's just too much hassle for me (personally) to try to coordinate with another player on the forum.  Why not run the challenge and just allow people to connect from multiple browser windows?

I'm tempted to post my solution ideas here but I'll refrain unless the challenge is officially cancelled. :P
