Getting back into things!

It's been years since Isotropic, which was the last time I really played competitively, but on a recommendation from a friend I tried out the "new" (well new to me) dominion.games build of the game and it's awesome. Is there a good resource for catching up on all the new cards? I plan on getting a subscription. I haven't really played Dominion much since Isotropic and haven't played with any cards newer than Dark Ages even offline, but had played a couple thousand games back when Isotropic was around.

Old farts in the forums may even remember me.

I remember you!

I don't know if there's a good resource for catching up, other than the wiki.

The second editions of the Base Set and Intrigue came out after Empires. Seaside Second Edition came out about a week ago, with Prosperity Second Edition previews happening soon. Each second edition removes a bunch of cards (mostly duds but some oppressive cards) and adds new ones in their place.

Now is a great time to get back into it. Man, discovering everything from Adventures forward fresh- well I’m jealous. My personal 3 favorite sets are Empires followed by Nocturne/Menagerie. My favorite mechanics are Debt, Split piles, Landmarks, Events, Ways, Night cards, and Heirlooms.

Anyway, Dominion online used to have a cool feature called “Familiar Cards” that once you set it up (and kept your lists updated) would introduce X amount of new (to you) cards per game, so you could control the pace of new-card-shock. I really miss it; it was great for manually tracking which cards I still wanted to try more.

The feature they have now is the card pool levels. Since you were playing back in isotropic I would recommend jumping straight to level 5 or 6, and play until it’s mostly familiar, then kick it up to the next level and repeat.

There has also been a bunch of rules changes and errata. Here are some of the biggest ones:

I suggest joining the discord (link in signature). It is definitely more of the community hub now, and has lots of places where people will help you out.

honestly just reading through these 3 threads starting wherever you stopped playing would be a great primer.I often give these links to cool players who are trying to get better in games.
