Jack is such an easy mislynch. All the points about him struggling for something to say always apply to him.

The joth wagon has gotten too popular. unvote
I'm still not convinced joth is towny, but whatever. If he's not the best exile option for today, then we need to find someone else
I don't think I've played with Jack before, is this more like a town or scum! Jack?

Is what more like Town or scum Jack? Are you literally asking to be provided with an excuse to vote?

Nope, I'm trying to get people's opinions on someone I haven't played with. Because I've not seen enough content to make me think either way about them

Trying to consider all the people with recent votes, as we have to exile someone

Seems like joth wants to focus on this to try and just get some mis-exiles

I think scum is far more likely to make this argument than Town.

Vote: Joseph
I've made this argument many times before. And I'm (almost) always town

Has it been useful for actually finding scum?

I like my WCD vote (I think I'm still there). I'd also be happy to vote for gkrieg. Might be convinced to switch to Jack, but as has been said, he's such an easy mis-vote, it just doesn't seem right today. I likely won't vote joth, MiX, or Shrae today. No opinion yet on any others.

Though I think joth may be scummy, I can see that's not going to get enough votes today

Well the reticence to vote for Jack is really making me feel a certain kinda way about Jack. I mean, they can't all be his partners, right?

vote: Jack

It's always a bit of a bad idea to focus on active players, but it's even worse in multiball. Scum prefers shooting the active players, so there's a good chance that active scum will just be eliminated by the other team.

So this is just exile all lurkers basically?
Yeah, sure, that is exactly what I'm saying. I guess your alternative strategy is "exile all contributors".

I generally agree with the EAL sentiment, you just usually have something more solid D1.

vote: joth

I want to have a meaningful vote down and I don’t like how he is sticking to his flimsy case on faust.

I am definitely sticking to my flimsy case on faust which why I

(A) have repeatedly said my own case is bad

and

(B) have not voted for faust one single time

Oh, I didn’t notice the lack of vote. Unvote

Why did people only want to vote for me after I started posting? And why has no one really done it?

Also I am pretty sure I had said in my posts that I was not reading ver carefully, so it’s weird that joth wants to vote for me because it seems like I’m not reading very carefully. Moving takes a lot of my time.

Woah, now you’re just trying to confuse me.

Anyways can we please start exiling Jack now?

Since you asked nicely.

But you have to promise to kill a scum player tomorrow.

Vote: Jack

Wait, you don't think Jack is scum?

Not particularly.

He’s scummier than Joth!

That’s something.
You were already confused. I've been trying to enlighten you. But why throw away your vote?

I get that, and I appreciate all Jack votes, but it's not really a good way to analyze things in this game I fear. Any scum can have at most one partner, that is probably not going to elicit a significant amount of retinence.

Hmmm....  I was looking at the people voting for me and thinking about their reasons. I went to reread mathdude.  It took 2 minutes.  He has 4 posts and nothing of substance, but there is zero reason for his vote and it happened after the RVS stage had petered out.  Two of his posts are the result of votes, and the other two are when he votes for me without reason (he was following Jack, so because he thought I was lurking??) and then doubles down on it, again without any sort of anything. I am not sure I want to call it scummy, could just be no effort.

Hello everyone! Finally, another mafia game.
Vote: math
OMGUS
No, I think we should instead Vote: MiX
Hello everyone! Finally, another mafia game.
Vote: math
Vote: physics
Physics?  I mean, it's a fantastic subject, but what does it have to do with this game?

Vote: math again. Hey, post some more!
I completely forgot about this game the past few days.  It's been a while since I've been in the forum regularly... I'll try to be around more often.
Vote: WCD

I think Shraeye is the only one I haven't played with before. Seems like very short posts, but enough to seem active. Very shifty... already voted at least 3 different players. Is this normal? Keeping my eye out.

Well I can't offer much other advice I'm afraid. mathdude hasn't said anything that made me mad so far, which is usually how I can tell that he's town. But I'm not sure it makes him scum.

I think I've said this before, but I really don't understand why some people like to target lurkers so much.

1) Personally, when I'm scum, because it doesn't happen that often, I'm extra-excited to play the game. I can't imagine rolling scum and then just not posting.

2) When I'm scum and I'm trying to direct the exile, it's very tempting to choose a lurker because they're easy to exile and there's a decent chance they won't show up to defend themselves.

3) Lurking as scum isn't particularly strategic -- you're essentially giving up your chance to A) manipulate the town and (B) earn towncred. Why do that?

4) There's plenty of reasons to lurk as town -- IRL business, being overwhelmed by the size of the town and the lack of information, fear of being painted as scummy for what you say (though two of those could also apply to scum).

5) Scum has had a chance to strategize about their day 1 before the game even started, with the benefit of a partner to offer suggestions. They should be coming in more ready than anyone to engage.

So with all that working against it, why push for it? I'd say it has a worse-than-even chance of hitting scum. I suppose it has the side benefit of keeping active players in the game and removing players about whom it's hard to glean information.

I do think a serial killer is a bit more likely to lurk as they really need to stay under the radar. So this game has that going for it.

I don't think lurking is alignment-indicative. Well there might exist players for who it is but not generally. So I think you're misguided in thinking that lurkers have a worse-than-average chance of hitting scum. But they also don't have a better-than-average chance.

But I think if a lurker has the same average scumminess level in their post as an active player, it's always preferable to exile the lurker.

I do think a serial killer is a bit more likely to lurk as they really need to stay under the radar. So this game has that going for it.

And one third of the scum in this game is a serial killer, so that's a pretty significant fraction.

It's the only reason I'm not yelling to shield math right now, he could easily be SK for that specific reason.
