It seems pops is not intending to participate in the tournament. He hasn't responded to my messages, and apparently the same thing happened in Round 1.
Well, if anybody's still looking for replacement players, I'd be interested. I missed the sign-ups by literally one hour, I think.  :-\

You can take pops' spot, Voltaire.  You have a make-up match with WW to get in by the end.  Let me know.

Young Nick ekes out a 4-3 win over Kirian

Kirian 33-46 Young Nick Swindler luck plus Vault for Provs.
Kirian 41-21 Young Nick Conspirator into early KC -> win.
Kirian 49-42 Young Nick Six-point Dukes win.
Kirian 24-40 Young Nick Awful Masquerade luck.
Kirian 35-27 Young Nick Did I mention awful Masquerade luck?
Kirian 31-37 Young Nick Crossroads and Barons only work sometimes.
Kirian 33-38 Young Nick IGG is not always the best.

Real Commentary:

Game 1:  IW/GH with Swindler in the mix.  YN gets the better Swindler luck, most importantly by trashing my first Silver immediately after I buy it.  Sure, he gives it back... but it's now in my discard.  YN then uses his Vault to actually get Provinces.

Game 2:  Warehouse and Upgrade make a Conspirator chain viable; both TR and KC make it ridiculous.  YN accidentally buys Coppersmith instead of Conspirator on T2.  I don't think that flub made the game, though; my early KC probably does, however.  We both laughed about whether I would use $20 to buy a Pawn in order to make my next $20 turn much better; looking back, it sadly might not have been a bad idea.

Game 3:  I get off to a somewhat slow start, falling behind on Provinces, but come back with multiple Duchy buys.  By the time my Dukes are worth $6, YN is having trouble putting $8 together but I'm having no trouble putting $5 together.  Some close calls with Masquerade here, though.

Game 4:  The first three times YN plays his Masquerade, I have no Estates in hand.  I don't think any further explanation is warranted.

Game 5:  YN is on the recieving end of bad Masquerade luck, coupled with several early $4 turns that allow me to get a Minion lead.  His Tunnels help fill his deck with Gold, but it doesn't stack up often enough to get Provinces. Breaking PPR is his only chance, but my Minion-heavy deck kills that chance.

Game 6:  Baron-CCCC is bad.  Crossroad-CCCC is bad too.  Crossroad-Baron-CCC... is awful.  My XR first hits a green on T8; my Barons first hit Estates on T11.  A Duchy buy on T10 instead of Gold might have saved me, but I doubt it.

Game 7:  5/2 on an IGG board... but Trading Post looks better to both of us.  YN mostly ignores IGG; I grab the majority of them and Upgrade several into Golds and Nobles.  Despite the IGG hits, TP and Upgrade keep YN from clogging and he starts buying Provinces earlier than me.  I think this one could have gone either way.

Kirian is right on the money here. Games 3, 6, and 7 were interesting, but the rest were either boring or lopsided. Kirian's strategy completely outclasses mine for game 3. Game 6 would have been great had there been some even luck. I loved the thought of a slow, clogged deck from the Baron/Crossroads opening that led into Dukes. Game 7 was interesting only because there is IGG, Rabble, Swindler, and Goons. It could have been much, much uglier. Instead, we both played defensively with Trading Posts and Upgrades. The lack of +Actions (except Nobles) made any hope for mega-Goons turn or semi-Rabble pin not really plausible. With Trading Posts and Upgrades, IGG is interesting, but ultimately ineffective, even though IGG is awesome as a target for the Upgrade. Ultimately, it was our best game of the 7.

Two notes: 1) I am nearly positive that despite the lopsided final score from game 2, if I hadn't blundered we would have tied. On my last turn, I could have upgraded my Upgrade into a Harem and taken the last Province, ending in a tie. Instead, I foolishly only hunted for $4 cards to Upgrade into a Duchy. -__-
2) As Kirian mentioned, I did open with a Coppersmith. Luckily, I used it once and then promptly upgraded it. Ultimately, had it been a Conspirator, there would have been no difference except for only having one less Conspirator in the supply. Still, it was a laughable moment, for sure.

Thanks again Kirian, it was great fun!

Edit: Grammar.

Game 2: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-150807-ff1b418c.html

Mic Qsenoch wins 6-1 against Voltaire

Game 1: Mic Qsenoch 66 - 50 Voltaire
A Duke game where I get Workshops to pick up silver and my opponent plays BM with a couple Minions. He gets his first few provinces quickly, but I get 7 of the Duchies and his deck slows enough that I can pick up the win.
Game 2: Mic Qsenoch 36 - 32 Voltaire
Masquerade game. Opponent goes straight BM-Masquerade. I pick up some Governors and a Saboteur. In the end I am able to get the last two provinces and win, but I'm not at all certain that my play was correct (especially with the Saboteur). My opponent also picked up quite a few Duchies early, presumably to buy Dukes later, but Masquerade games are just so fast.
Game 3: Mic Qsenoch 34 - 31 Voltaire
IW, Great Hall, Mining Village, Torturer, Baron. I use IW to pick up Mining Villages and go for Torturers. He plays mostly BM, using IW to get Great Halls. I have trouble drawing my deck, and I can't seem to hit my Barons when I do for double Provinces. My opponent greens very heavily and tries to end the game on piles before I can catch up. It is very close in the end, but I have a fairly lucky last turn to eke out a win.
Game 4: Mic Qsenoch 47 - 38 Voltaire
I play Masquerade BM, he gets Torturers and Nobles. I send the curses back to him with Masquerade.
Game 5: Mic Qsenoch 39 - 31 Voltaire
This was another Duke game, it also had IW/Great Hall as well as Border Village. We play similar strategies, I get a couple more Ironworks than him as well as a Merchant Ship. I manage to get 5 of the Duchies, which lets me win.
Game 6: Mic Qsenoch 3 - 9 Voltaire
He buys a lot of King's Courts, I buy a lot of ... Stewards. A whole bunch of Stewards. I'm a delegative leader. Lots of megaturn potential here (Bridge, KC, Nobles, Torturer), but it never happens and my opponent ends it on piles once he can.
Game 7: Mic Qsenoch 20 - 13 Voltaire
IGG game, I win the curse war 7-3, my opponent gets an early Province but I get most of the Duchies.

Voltaire was a great opponent, and it was a fun series.

Mic Qsenoch wins 6-1 against Voltaire
A very fun set of games against Mic Qsenoch, who quickly established himself as the superior player. It was extremely fun and I'm glad we were about to squeeze all our games in during a chance meeting on Iso.

Week 2 is pretty tricky when you're not good at Duke games.  ;)

Fit1one beat andwilk 4 -3

Will post logs later when I get time
.

Here are the logs:

Game 1: fit1one 34-22 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-140504-8219f028.html)
My Minion gets swindled into a Duchy on turn 4.  Game over.

Game 2: andwilk 49-34 fit1one (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-141236-03651971.html)
A Masquerade/BM mirror game.  I win because of better draws.  Of note is that Witch was on the board and we both chose to ignore it.

Game 3: fit1one 52-33 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-142209-92eb1f20.html)
I decide that Ironworks -> Island would be too slow so I ignore it.  Oops.  Also, this game was a mess for me as I opened with Envoy but didn't stick to the Envoy/BM strategy that Envoy is best at.

Game 4: fit1one 46-44 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-143438-91bc7ca9.html)
LOTS of green including Dukes and Silk Road.  I intend to eventually buy Silk Roads after Nobles and Great Halls but get distracted by Duchies (and I never got around to Dukes).  For some reason, I buy out the last Duchy to end the game thinking I was ahead.

Game 5: andwilk 34-21 fit1one (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-144503-aea5bb0e.html)
I get a big jump on Minions and I was able to coast to victory.  He tries to counter with an army of Swindlers, but they didn't cause enough havoc to make a difference in the end.

Game 6: fit1one 66-50 andwilk (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-145345-c397e4b6.html)
I really thought this was a good board for Gardens with Market and Pawn available but his Margrave/BM strategy was clearly superior.

Game 7: andwilk 43-29 fit1one (http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/04/game-20120404-150200-208ce592.html)
Similar decks except that I threw some Margraves in the mix which made the difference.

Takeaways - Overall, a good match but I felt that I made too many mistakes and was outclassed/outplayed by my opponent here.  Oh, and I really need work with Minions.  I never really liked them, and it reared its ugly head too many times in this match for my liking.

Better late than never, my series with Graystripe has started and we've got 3 matches played. Hooray!

Graystripe 34 : 36 DG http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/13/game-20120413-153700-540b967c.html
Graystripe 25 : 37 DG http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/13/game-20120413-154947-659a3131.html
Graystripe 30 : 49 DG http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201204/13/game-20120413-155428-cfbfc819.html

The first game is dominated by fool's gold but with different enablers. I took the remodel on the assumption that I'd lose the race for fool's gold and would be trashing into and out of gold. Quite surprisingly it worked, with a lucky finishing hand. The second game I managed to get an ad hoc engine working that I wouldn't really like to categorize and wasn't what I wanted, but it turned out to be more nimble than Graystripe's treasure heavy deck. The third game was witch with shanty towns, good shanty towns, and I thankfully only bought one gold before remembering that noble brigands can't steal harems.
