I think you can use your best judgement and the spirit of the rule. I have looked up whether something is one word or not, and don't think it counts.

I agree with WCD and joth on following the spirit of the rule. WCD's example of confirming 1 word vs 2 is a good one.

One example I'll give where I decided it was against the spirit was when I was considering pendulum (for cone and pit). I thought it wasn't right to confirm that pendulums do make conical shapes.

My point is - use your best judgement.

I was thinking PISTOL (which is what I assume you meant by gun), FILM, and STAR.

The Bodyguard is a FILM (with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston); they often are protecting STARs, and they often carry PISTOLs.

ARMOR was my 4th pick, but I did like the other 3 better. (and 5th I guess would be something like BOMB or maybe CODE)

I would go pistol - armor - film (haven't heard of the film, but sounds reasonable).

Why not armor scola? Thinking literally, armor is something guarding your body.

It's just that I like STAR better.

I think being bodyguard and not something else clearly points to either FILM or STAR or both. But maybe if it were both (and pistol) there are better clues for those three - some movie star associated with guns or something.

While armor guards your body, I do think bodyguard has a specific meaning of a person. They do serve as armor for their client though, and do often wear body armor themselves (I presume).

Sounds like we all agree on PISTOL.

I'd prefer FILM 2nd and then ARMOR or STAR third.

film or star would be fine 3rd picks imo.

However, I do really think it is extremely unlikely that we got this clue if Armor is not one of the words. I feel like it is both star and film, that is just a slam dunk set up for like the easiest movie hint ever and it would not get burnt as the first clue out

Curry seems likely. I like the sausage link connection, but I'm slightly afraid link is theirs -- Link is Princess Zelda's bodyguard in Breath of the Wild.

Still, Curry-Calf-Link seems like the best bet to me.
