Am I going to need to read all of season 1 to play?

I have mostly finished the second installment of the series. We have two open slots for new players to join. Please let me know when you would like this game to start, and confirm that you are still willing to play.

To join as a new player is it (a) necessary (b) strongly encouraged or (c) a good thing to read the last iteration?

I would obviously would read and understand the rules and setup (I know, scummy), but not sure I want to read 38 pages of game (yes, 38 pages not 76. 50 posts per page is the way to go).

I think you wouldn't need to read all the way through, but it will matter what characters people have played before. I intend to clean up that game thread a bit before this game begins so it's easier to navigate to the relevant posts.

It was not what we assumed. The Cylon goal was not the extinction of the human race. Or at least, it was not the goal of all Cylons. It is still hard for us to understand what motivates them. When they brought the fleet under their control, they took us all back to a place we thought lost: Caprica. And sure enough, it was nowhere near the same as before. The bombs caused terrible destruction.

Among the rubble, we built a new place to live. The Cylons claim that they want to learn to coexist with the human population. The first months after our arrival, we were like prisoners, and the Cylons controlled our lives. As time passed however, they agreed to let us have more freedom, and a voice in decisions that affected humanity.

We should be under no illusion that this is a democracy. The Cylons still could wipe us out at any minute. Why they do not want to is impossible to tell. Our lives are very different now, but they are ours at least. Large parts of the planet remain contaminated by fallout, but we have built up a safe zone in the ruins of Caprica City. It has been a year since we landed here. Will this fragile peace last?

Some clarifications to avoid confusion:

- players are "removed from the game" if they are sent to the bring or incapacitated. Characters who die permanently are "removed from the campaign". these are distinct categories.
- it is still possible to complete your character arc if you are removed from the game, or even removed from the campaign, so long as you win the game.

To be fair, the people who were pressing you the hardest on stuff last game were either scum or strongly believed you to be scum, so don't act like you were being singled out unfairly lol.
