Province on Turn 3

I suspect this has been discussed elsewhere at some point, but I thought it might be fun to get an exhaustive list of ways to get a Province on turn 3. Here are some off the top of my head. Several can be permuted in obvious ways by switching cards in your hand and those that are drawn.

Coppersmith, 4 Coppers (or 3 Coppers and a Silver)
Baron, Estate, Silver, 2 Coppers
Mining Village (trashed for $2), 4 Coppers, and a Silver (or $3 Silver-equivalent) on deck
Envoy, Silver, 3 Coppers, and some luck or a generous opponent
A lucky Tribute and 4 Coppers
Smithy, Silver, 3 Coppers, and 3 more Coppers on deck
Council Room, 4 Coppers, and 4 more Coppers on deck (one bought with the $2 opening)

I'll leave one more as a puzzle: how can you do it with Harvest?

Hand: Harvest and four coppers;
play Harvest and draw Estate, Copper, Pawn, and the Curse you got after your opponent's turn-3 Sea Hag play.

Yes well, having opponent interactions basically means you can do anything and get a province in hand, say e.g. 3-player game
Turn 3, Player 1: Mining Village (trash), Chancellor, 4 coppers, buy a province, reshuffle, draw province
Turn 3, Player 2: Throne room, Masquerade, receive province from Player 1 on first masquerade, pass province to Player 3 on second masquerade.

Smithy + Silver +6 coppers
Embargo +Contraband + 3 Coppers
Any number of ways benefiting from one or more opponents' council rooms

I'd be curious to see what the isotropic stats are for a turn 3 province buy - with and without Tournament in play.

You can even get a Platinum on T3: Draw Copper x3, Wishing Well, Coppersmith, Wishing Well to draw a Copper and wish for a Copper, play Coppersmith for $10.

So is it possible to get a T3 Colony?

With opponent interaction it is: follow the instructions to get T3 $10 and just throw in a council room to have another copper in hand. How about solitaire?

In 3+ player? Sure, two opponents play Council Room, I draw coppersmith with 6 coppers.

In 2 player? I don't think so.

Edit: Ah, forgot about WW (see below comments), good catch.

No, 2-player works fine as I described:

Another player council rooms so you have Wishing Well, Coppersmith, Copperx4.  Wishing Well to draw two coppers.  Coppersmith.  $12.

Colony turn 3 is possible - even as a starting player (so without opponent's Council room - but there might be friendly interaction).
There are different solutions for
- 5 player games
- 4 player games
- 3 player games
- 2 player games

The 2 player solution(s) will work with all other player numbers as well but not vice versa. So for example the 3 player solution will work with 4 and 5 as well, but not with 2.
There was a puzzle about this in a german forum created by Suizul befor Cornucopia came out. I didn't check if there are more solutions now. But I don't think Harvest will help.

Here's a solution for 2+: Mining village, Masquerade, 3 Copper. Mining village (trashed for $2) yields another Copper, Masquerade yields a Copper and an Estate. Pass the Estate, receive a Coppersmith. $12.

3+: Throne room, Masquerade, 3 Copper. Throned Masquerade yields a Copper and Estate, twice. Each time you pass an Estate and receive a Contraband (the second one originating two players to your right). $11.

And another for 3+:Mining village, Masquerade, 3 Copper. Yada yada, pass an Estate, get a Tribute. Player to the left has Copper-Silver on top. $11.

No idea on the 4+ and 5+ methods.

This will work for 2 players too with a simple modification at the very end.

Nice. The original solution for 3+ involved Masquerade, Contraband too, but not Throne room

Opponent has Copper and Estate on top; Tribute gives you +$2 and you draw Copper and Estate.

4+:
Other players buy (Estate, Duchy), (Great Hall, Gardens), (Duke) on their first two turns.
Your third turn: Throne Room, Trade Route, 3 Copper. Throned Trade Route for +$5 twice, leaving one last Copper for $11.

Right. I think you got the solution for 5+ now too and why it's not possible in 4 player games.

There is a 4+ solution involving Masquerade, Trade route too. But the Throne room solution is more elegant.

Library/Pawn works for the 2 player puzzle, taking the $1 + action and drawing/holding the remaining 7 copper from the library.
Contraband will work on an unsuspecting opponent too, with help from Embargo, Pawn, Courtyard.
