Oh, sorry, I assumed pass there from blue team.

Should have held back, go on, take another guess at something...

I mean, with a 1/13 chance, why would we NOT?

Pass
I feel like it would be possible to narrow down the field significantly given that we also have the red clue to work with... not saying that it would have been a good idea to guess, but I can imagine a situation where you'd want to do a "blind" guess.

We could’ve somewhat, but we couldn’t include narrowing clues based off their Circular clue - and while we may have been able to eliminate 5-7 tops, that would still leave us guessing amongst 6 unknowns with the assassin in play, so....

Add to that, that we still need 6 correct guesses. So safe to assume the PASS is official and we're guessing?

Yes, pass was official when Galz posted it  :) It's just fun to imagine a situation where you might do an unusual play like that.

yeah I think you have a 1 in whatever chance at winning on the spot but the exact same chance of losing on the spot.

Kind of. You can make educated guesses at what the assassin might be by what words have NO association with given clues. Assuming neither spymaster is risking a clue that MIGHT be close, you could probably identify a group of likely assassin words. The question becomes, can you isolate out a word that doesn’t fall into that group, and doesn’t have given associations with your own clues. After eliminating the words you think might belong to the other team, you might be left with a word that you feel is at worst Neutral, and at best your final one.

OK, just making sure.

We need 6.
2 are definitely for foraging, and likely 3 more for Grip (is there any connection between Winter and Grip)?
And then < 5 for Circular or the clue would have been Circular:5.

But circular could overlap with others...

So Moon and Tube seem definite. I still like River and Ninja for Foraging and Grip. If you agree let's lock those in. Tube could also be Grip, so ostensibly that would leave one more foraging and one more grip (unless Moon is also foraging?)

The only other possible Circular, I could think of is Wine (for a wine glass?) but seems meh.

If we do go for those 4 and are right, I'm leaning wave and mint. But a) want to hear what you think, b) think about it some more...

I am here. Just kinda Vla the last few days. lemme check the board and see whats up.

I agree with you. I mean we are hail mary mode so its go for it time.

I would say like TUBE 100% bc of the overlap with grip.
I would then say MOON just because it seems to be the most obvious for Circular.

Then I return to MINT, which can be foraged and also can be a breath mint that are lots of the time circular.

River is then my favorite stand alone for Forage and Ninja my favorite for Grip.

That is Tube and Ninja for Grip. Leaving potentially 1 more.
That is Mint and River for Forage. I think that kills Forage.
And that is.... 3 for Circular?

Whatever.. point is I agree with you. plus/minus my mint concept. If you wanna do ...
Tube ninja river...
though for now I am on board. I do think it could be wine, but I think that river/mint is a more likley combo then river/moon. and then I am pretty sure we need like 2 more lol

In the end we'll have to guess all/most of these anyways. Interesting thought on Mints bring circular... sure why not:

Parsing what you wrote, I hope this is right?

TUBE -> MOON -> NINJA -> RIVER -> MINT

If those all happen to be right, we can revisit what fits what and try to figure out if we like Wine, Wave or something else...

Good clues Joth.

I found it very hard to link together the red words with any reliable clues. And after blue hit 4 on their first turn I knew we were getting maximum 3 turns, so I felt I had to go for larger more ambiguous clues.

White: 4 would have been nice (Moon, Fair, Winter, Mint) but Wine being the assassin put paid to that.

So team, thanks for trying to make the most of my ambiguous clues. It was fun watching the discussion! Here were my intentions:
Grip: 4 - Film, Winter (in the grip of winter?), Ninja, Tube
Foraging: 3 - Brazil (nuts), Mint, Winter
Circular - Moon, Tube, Mint, Fair (lots of rotating things at a fair, rather tenuous, but Fair had already come up in the discussion for Grip at least).

In retrospect, Foraging was a bad clue; I hadn't thought about Worm or River there. I suppose I was thinking of the picture on the Dominion Forager card, which shows someone picking fruit, so I was thinking about gathering fruit and nuts (Brazil) and picking plants (Mint). Maybe "Forager" might have been slightly better.

I had a feeling Joth was going to clue Mexico and Dance (and then he asked me in PM about cucuracha) so I felt I should hold back Circular until Dance had gone. But then if you had got Brazil, he could have gone for the more obvious Mexico-Greece link, so it was fairly hopeless anyway.

Anyway, it would have been nice to have been down to 5 words left and able to give Circular: 4 for my last clue, but it was never going to work unless you somehow changed your mind and prefer Brazil over River.

Good game!
