Toil + Merchant

If you play Merchant with Toil, and you had previously played a Silver, do you get the +$1?  I'm thinking the answer is no, since in order to get that bonus, you'd have to play the Silver after the Merchant.  Am I correct in that?

EDIT: Just checked the wiki which confirmed my initial conclusion
