GreyStripe77, I'll PM you later, but you may not see Young Nick, but rather The Real ~~**Young Nick**~~. I'll switch it back next time I sign in, though.

Hey, Mangsky and I are playing now. Can someone explain how to decide beforehand who the first player is? I don't really feel like resigning every time we don't get it right.

ah, just a minute too late, but thanks. Somehow, it all worked out - last game's loser was next game's starter. Is this a feature, or was it just really good luck?

Anyway, Mangsky and me finished 4-3 in my favor, here are the logst (missed one):

Game 1: Dubdubdubdub 42 - Mangsky 30.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-025114-c5aa7934.html
I bought an Envoy and switched to Wharves asap. Envoy and Wharf don't go together greatly, but it wasn't too bad. Mangsky opened Envoy/Smugglers and got quite a bunch of Wharves and Golds off of me. Wasn't enough. He took a risk and broke the PPR on a turn when I hadn't played a Wharf. I was able to finish it off.

Game 2: Dubdubdubdub 31 - Mangsky 24.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-032040-fd5242c9.html
Not sure if the order of these games is correct, really. Let's say this was game 2.
I went for a Woodcutter/Gardens 'rush', with some help from Hamlets. It was an interesting board though, notably because of Chapel. I opened Militia/Woodcutter to sabotage his chapeling, which worked really well. Bought a Thief as well, but that didn't help much. His Jesters just kept hitting my coppers and silvers, which was lucky. I ended up with 49 cards (I hate that :p), but still one relatively comfortably.

Game 3: Mangsky 27 - Dubdubdubdub resigned.
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-032851-15ac11dc.html
This was an Envoy board that I simply misplayed. He opened with a workshop to pick up plenty of Villages and was able to simply add a couple of Markets and Stables. I felt lost, bought a Workshop to pick up speed, but it was too late. Got some bad draws too, resigned on turn 12.

Game 4: Dubdubdubdub 46 - Mangsky 43
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-030100-c3449928.html
I moneylendered into BM/Market/Highway on a Colony board. Mangsky tried something similar, but added a Smithy, a Vault, 2 Council Rooms and 3 Worker's Villages. The finish was really close.

Game 5: Mangsky 30 - Dubdubdubdub 25
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-030941-8ad5c17c.html
A mix with lot's of cheap cards, making Workshop really strong. Crossroads, Fishing Village, Great Hall & Throne Room. My 5-2 opening was unlucky, I feel like we both played well here. Mangsky 3-piled with a comfortable distance.

Game 6: Mangsky won, Dubdubdubdub resigned.
Lost the log. A Witch/Golem game with Moats. The luck that I had at first (4/1 cursus, I believe) got flipped upside down. Halfway his deck started rolling and mine started clogging. His festivals got him to a big VP lead, and I resigned. I think.

Game 7: Dubdubdubdub 25 - Mangsky 21
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-034908-04ce3996.html
Another Witch game, this time with workshop and Gardens in the mix. I think I played my Mining Villages pretty well to get a Witch lead; Worker's Villages became more relevant later on. I got a lead of 2 provinces and managed to get 3 of the Gardens. His gardens and mine were 4vp. My lead felt comfortable. Obviously, the game threepiled.

Mangsky, thanks for a set of nice matches! Pretty close man, pretty close.

I thought you meant for the first game.  On Isotropic, anyone who lost their last game goes before anyone who just logged in or just won their last game.

blueblimp 3-4 Mic Qsenoch    (blueblimp +6 points, Mic Qsenoch +8 points)

Game 1    blueblimp 21-31 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-112255-132101c4.html

He goes for Remodel into Grand Markets, while I go for essentially just Wharf, as I thought GM would be too slow. He cleverly embargoes the Duchies, reducing the value of my +buys. The game was fairly close, so I don't know which strategy was better.

Game 2    blueblimp 33-46 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-113224-47559768.html

He uses Remodel to start up a Festival-Library strategy, and later the Remodels take advantage of the presence of Border Village. I intended to do Library-BM, but as I never hit exactly $5 in the entire game, instead I just bought golds.  I tried to pick up some BVs along with Duchies and got a single remodel with hopes of snagging a province that way, but they never connected. His win is convincing.

Game 3    blueblimp 22-26 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-113549-0d5ce1fe.html

Workshop, Gardens, and Silk Road are all on the board. I make the error of going for Gardens before Silk Road, which costs me 5 points in the end, more than the margin of victory. Nevertheless, I only needed 1 additional card to get my Gardens to 3 points, so it was close.

Game 4    blueblimp 46-44 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-114504-f61d5a45.html

I get 5/2 while he gets 4/3, so I grab a Haggler to grab Minions+Villages and skip treasure entirely. Possibly some of those Villages should have been Throne Rooms instead, but in any case it works pretty well, although I almost lose anyway.  I ended up choking on green, so it would have helped me to take some Islands instead of Duchies.

Game 5    blueblimp 27-23 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-115323-e62b96f7.html

Grand Market is here again, and this time it's clearly the right way to go.  Early on, I grab a Mine to convert my coppers to silvers, and I think this might have been a big factor in the game since he never got one himself. The game is very close and comes down to the last turn.

Game 6    blueblimp 32-33 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-120420-e6439b4e.html

Both of us pick up a Militia and transition into Minions, although I commit less heavily to the Minions, picking up several Expands and Golds too. Also, I pick up a bunch of Moats to Expand into Duchies. I felt I was ahead in this game, but I got some bad turns late and he narrowly hits $8 on his last turn, grabbing the last province.

Game 7    blueblimp 45-40 Mic Qsenoch
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/23/game-20120323-121003-b73452f2.html

I play Courtyard-BM with some Laboratory assistance. (Should those Labs have been Silvers instead? I did a little simulation and it seems to like skipping lab.) He opens Monument/Silver but ends up getting some Courtyards later. I end up taking the game, which doesn't surprise me as Courtyard-BM is very strong.

Overall, a very fast series, and surprisingly few mirror games. Somehow we never drew Witch (or any other curser for that matter). The base cards were usually not too relevant, getting dominated by superior cards from expansions.

DG 4 - 3 Andwilk. All first turn wins and there was big first turn bias in most of the kingdoms sadly. Check out game 6 for example.

Bonus points for brevity. Not counting the scores and links you summarized all the games in six words or less.

Blueblimp summed our series up nicely, I think the only things I'd like to mention:
Game 4 - I ended the game by running out a third pile while losing, so I'm an idiot.
Game 7 - I think Monument/Lab is stronger than BM courtyard here, but I'm not sure. My courtyard buy was a big mistake.

Robz888 4 wins (8 points) - Masticore 3 wins (6 points). It was a fun series, though for us, personally, we played "Season of the Militia" rather than "Season of the Witch" (no Witch, not once).

Robz888 38-25 Masticore: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-091919-d23c5763.html

Looks like a Wharf/Festival engine game with heavy Chapel trashing. We both grab Chapel, but I open Silver over Militia, which later seems stupid, because Silver colliding with Chapel is pretty much just as bad, and his Militia hurts me, so I pick one up later. He buys Royal Seal with his first $5 hand, instead of Wharf, so I take the lead by transitioning to a Wharf/Festival engine more quickly. Ultimately, that's enough.

Masticore 44-32 Robz888: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-092617-e323aceb.html

We both open Moneylender/Fishing Village and look toward picking up Watchtowers, Festivals, and Throne Rooms. I buy a Watchtower before my second Fishing Village, and he does the opposite. Other than that, we didn't make any hugely different choices, but he has the opportunity to pick up more of everything and prevails easily.

Robz888 54-35 Masticore: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-093626-75f4e677.html

Another Chapel/Militia game. We both open with that. I pick up a Haggler fairly early, which starts to seem questionable, because I have a small deck with lots of collision between Haggler and Militia. The question becomes: Hurt him, or get a Gold AND a Market? It seems to pay off, though, and he eventually gets Haggler, too. I take the lead but neither of us can afford to break PPR, so we empty Duchies... and then Estates... and then Gardens. Salvager becomes relevant but the longer the game goes, my slightly superior deck produces a greater points discrepancy, and I win.

Masticore 46-37 Robz888: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-094531-7e87257c.html

By now we are both pretty freaking tired of Militia every other turn, but here it is again. He opens with it, while I grab Ironworks because of the good choices at $4 (Island, Tournament). He gets an early Province and has the Tournaments to back it up, and I suspect that I am toast. He takes Trusty Steed, and eventually I get Followers, but by then there isn't much game left to play, and I probably should have just gotten Duchy. It wouldn't have mattered, though, as he scores a win with a much better deck.

These first 4 games were sort of boring affairs where we both played decently and first turn advantage probably determined the winner. Thankfully, the next 3 were awesome.

Robz888 46-34 Masticore: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-095402-3c73261e.html

The only Colony game, and there were a couple different possible routes. He opts for a Silk Road/Estates rush, fueled by Workshops. I go for Goons, with the excellent support of Village/Council Room/Nobles. It was really exciting. I am able to grab plenty of components for my Goons engine, but piles are already running low--Silk Roads with Workshops are so fast! I buy the last two Silk Roads just to deny him the points. He's slightly ahead with the third pile nearly depleted, but my Goons engine goes off, and I coast to a fun win.

Masticore 10-27 Robz888: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-100439-a7e19ae8.html

An Ill-Gotten Gains rush without any of the trash-for-benefits cards that usually add strategy to IGG games. Fortunately for me, he makes his biggest mistakes of the series here by detouring for Tournaments and Worker's Villages, and not gaining Coppers, whereas I just get Silver and IGGs, and Coppers. I know there's no chance of connecting Tournaments to Provinces, and little upside to doing so. His deck stalls big time after we split the IGGs, and I win with Duchies.

Masticore 45-37 Robz888: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/24/game-20120324-101739-b52266c0.html

He redeems himself here by setting up a vastly superior engine with a couple Bridges, Laboratories, and Inns. I don't recognize the Inn potential and just buy a single Bridge, Laboratories, and Gold. Eventually I see how nicely it's working for him, and I set up a mega turn with Inn, but it's too little too late. My hats off to him for a great win here.

So, that's that. Thanks to Masticore for the games! He's a great player.

Tonks77 - ugasoft 7:7 Hard fight

1) Tonks77 - ugasoft 52:47 http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-095026-1ca7a483.html

Minions against Big Money without trasher.

2) Tonks77 - ugasoft 43:43 tie http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-100117-d420ace1.html

Minions against Wharf/Bank, this time with support from Moneylender. ugasoft had a nice lead and in turn 21 I realize that my only chance for winning would be to buy all remaining VPs: 1 Province, 1 Duchy, 4 Estates. I had 12 in this turn and enough buys to get the (last) duchy and 3 estates. ugasoft bought the last estate next turn, so I could only hope for a tie from that point. And to ugasoft's despair I managed to snag that last province in turn 22. I even had 2$ and 1 buy left, so if there would have been another estate left, I could have won this game...

3) Tonks77 - ugasoft 28:27 (?) 29:28 http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-101014-35d98a4b.html

I only remember, that due to PPR I didnt buy the 7th province in one turm and rather took a duchy instead. bringing me to a 1-point lead. Next turn ugasoft bought the 7th province and I was quite happy to buy the last one afterwards.  :)

4) Tonks77 - ugasoft 19:22 http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-101949-5f590ae8.html

Witches and Hunting Parties. I decided to not buy a moneylender, as I thought it was pointless with hunting parties around. Seems I was wrong...

5) Tonks77 - ugasoft 36:27 http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-103028-a3581d77.html

Key cards: Governor, Bank, Chapel, Courtyard. ugasoft bought chapel. I didn't, keeping my copper for the banks. ugasoft took lots of gold with the governor, giving me lots of siver, which was fine for me and my banks. Turn 12 he remodels his silver with governor for another governor, when I had a hand of Bank, 2 Golds and 4 coppers (he had played some governors for +cards before) and no +buy. So I happily turned my bank into a province and still was able to buy another province next turn. During his last turn He remodeled a gold into a province and I again could have turned a bank into a province, trouble was, his was the last province. But I still was able to remake a horse traders into a duchy.

6) Tonks77 - ugasoft 31:39 http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-104129-2d0ab0a2.html

Festival - Library is one of my favrite combos, but here it was too slow against his more BM-style approach. Again I tried to compensate his lead with duchy buys, but of course that destroyed my deck.

7) Tonks77 - ugasoft 21:34 http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120324-105720-be3961e0.html

His heavy trashing (buying 2 stewards in turns 1-3) let him transform into a nice scrying pool deck, that I could not beat.

Thanks for the tough match to ugasoft.

Edit: Added Councilroom-logs and correct result of game 3.

Great fight, and great comeback by myself after a really really bad start... 3 games, 2 loss and a tie where I was stra-winning!
Good game Tonks!

jonts26 6 - 1 fit1one (12 - 2 points)

Game 1: fit1one 28 - 39 jonts26
Jack + Witch + Big Money Mirror. I get 2 witches to his 1.

Game 2: fit1one 35 - 47 jonts26
Jack + Smugglers + Gardens for me. He switched over to Gardens after appearing to be aiming for provinces early.

Game 3: fit1one 39 - 46 jonts26
Tried some sort of workshop/caravan/militia/monument engine. Didn't work out fantastically. Probably could have done it better, but it was good enough.

Game 4: fit1one 33 - 34 jonts26
His ambassador vs my Nomad Camp/Hamlet/Gardens. He scooped up enough gardens and provinces to make it quite close.

Game 5: fit1one 28 - 39 jonts26
Smithy/Big Money beats B-Crat Big Money

Game 6: fit1one 49 - 40 jonts26
Smithy/BM mostly mirror.

Game 7: jonts26 45 - 27 fit1one
Both open embassy. He gets a chapel which I think is a mistake. I nab an early horn of plenty to gain a few extra silver and a duchy later.

Thanks for the games.

Fabian beats JanErik 4-3 (8 points to 6)

Game 1 Fabian 21 - 35 JanErik
JanErik opens Silver/Chapel while I open Silver/Silver, looking for Embassy which I figure should be fast enough to beat a Chapel/BM deck, especially with the tie-breaking Estates. Things don't really pan out though, I don't get to $5 on turns 3 or 4 and kinda fall behind.

Game 2 Fabian 61 - 71 JanErik
We both open the rather obvious Witch/nothing, then nothing interesting happens for a while, then JanErik buys lots of Embassies which turn out to be pretty good and lets him buy Colonies and Provinces a lot even though his deck is significantly worse than mine otherwise.

Game 3 Fabian 40 - 34 JanErik
Another Chapel game where I trash down to a 5 card deck for a while to combat his Thief. From there I get a few more Markets and eventually buy double Gold, intending to power through his Thief before it can take over the game. It eats 3 Golds, but I'm able to get the last Province to win.

Game 4 Fabian 36 - -100 JanErik
He opens Silver/Silver while I open Silver/Feast. We both go for Wharf, but JanErik branches out with Schemes and Festival, as well as getting a Potion in the midgame, aiming for Possession. My deck of 3 Wharf and treasure is coming together nicely though, and when I buy my fifth Province on turn 15, JanErik resigns.

Game 5 Fabian 35 - 22 JanErik
JanErik goes for Moneylender/Silver, essentially going BM, while I open Remodel/Fool's Gold. He snags 3 of my Fool's Golds, but the 7 I get do their job quickly, with 5 Province (and a bonus Nobles and bonus Gardens) in 14 turns.

Game 6 Fabian 55 - 72 JanErik
Sea Hag/Silver, I get another Sea Hag and win the curse war 6-4. He gets sixty-five or so Laboratories, I get a few Tacticians and Festivals and stuff. I thought I was doing pretty well, but those Laboratories made his deck pretty consistent, or something, and he won.

Game 7 Fabian 42 - -100 JanErik
Tournament/Silver for him, Silver/Courtyard for me, picking up a few Tournaments quickly. I get the first Province, I win the first prize (Followers), I play Followers a few times, and I get a comfortable lead where he needs both remaining Provinces to catch me. We build our decks back up for a few turns, then I get to the penultimate Province, securing the win, and he resigns.

Thanks for the games JanErik!

Angrybirds 4 wins 9 pts vs zxcvbn2 2 wins (5 pts) and 1 tie

Pretty basic games w/o any real engines...

Game 1: zxcvb2 41; angrybirds 31
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-080913-33027e84.html Council Room/Smith beats Smithy*2 + a stupid Cache buy

Game 2: angrybirds 39; zxcvb2 22
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-081624-83578e9c.html Remake with Witch. I am able to get rid of all my estates and all but one curse while zxcvbn2's witch and remake consistently collide.

Game 3: tie at 10 each
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-082214-329d5aa5.html An IGG-Duchy rush mirror. Boring game, although I bought coppersmith early forgetting that IGG coppers are gained during the buy phase....

Game 4: angrybirds 33; zxcvbn2 18
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-083422-5a28f8a5.html
I open 5/2 and get Lab and Chapel. He had 4/3 and attempts to Swindle but unluckily doesn't hit much of anything.

Game 5: angrybirds 39; zxcvbn2 32
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-084548-bc691818.html
Tactician game. zxcvbn2 uses Upgrade. I go Spice Merchant, Festival and Cellar with a mistakenly bought Library that ends up working out pretty well as it only once conflicts with Tactician.

Game 6: angrybirds 33, zxcvbn2 29
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-085310-753d1777.html
Heavy attack game with Moat being the essential card of the game. Was a really close game and could have gone either way. Margrave, Swindler and Witch were the main attack cards used.

Game 7: zxcvbn2 41; angrybirds 32
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-090220-66623835.html
Another Witch game with Embassy this time. zxcvbn2 buys a possession but never gets to use it. He wins the curse war 4/6 and gets an early lead and stays ahead as I struggle to catch up.

Some fun games but again pretty basic. Thanks to zxcvbn for the games.

Really enjoying playing my games, looking forward to next round ( even if I am the whipping boy)

Great to learn from top players.

edit: missing log added

lespeutere vs Geronimoo 4-3-0 in my favour, i.e. 8 points for me, 6 for Geronimoo
(he'd had some beers, i'm not sure what 'some' means from a Belgian perspective)
We both missed one log, which was - following Murphy's law - the same (game 2)

Geronimoo - lespeutere -100 - 24
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-095928-da0aeae4.html
We both open ambassador, he with bureaucrat, I add a moneylender, figuring that an early lab might be of great help. It turns out I was right, I add a moat when i have 2 and everything aligns very nicely. I felt pretty lucky but still I feel amb/moneylender > amb/bureaucrat. Geronimoo tries something with alchemists but resigns when I have 4 provinces after 16 turns.

Geronimoo - lespeutere 18 - 31
http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120325-101103-49d0c2dc.html
There's KC, market, hunting party, council room, remake, militia. I start militia/silver to get KC early. It doesn't work out while he manages to get one early with a remake/silver start. I go for HP then which Geronimoo ignores. He gets 2 provinces then, me 2 the following turn, as well. While he gets only one then, I manage to take the remaining 3 with remaking a KC into a province.

Geronimoo - lespeutere 43 - 31
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-101710-fe65fac2.html
Sea hag/silver for both of us. We then go for traders but mine does not come together with estates until late. Geronimoo turns it into a councilroom assisted BM style game while I lurk around with some villages to assist my CR. Well, he does know how to play BM, does he?

lespeutere - Geronimoo 48 - 51
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-102539-62fd2492.html
I go for the gardens rush while Geronimoo goes for tournaments and provinces, with a little lookout assistance. I figure even followers might not be a threat to me. Well, if he had not taken the 8th gardens, it might have been even closer. I'm not sure whether trusty steed and followers would've been my first choices, too, but it's good enough to take the win.

lespeutere - Geronimoo 15 - 31
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-103725-6a4848a5.html
FV/chapel start for both, I have an early lead with a ghost ship in turn 6 but then I fail to keep this lead due to some festival buys when I have 4 FV, he 6. I guess I coul've tried to go for provinces earlier but still I'm not sure whether it would've ended much better. Eventually Geronimoo is able to make use of HoP while my engine struggles to keep going.

lespeutere - Geronimoo 47 - 9
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-104355-3fb8da05.html
Bishop/chapel start for both of us. He gets a second bishop without +actions while I get some money first, being first to get to the golden deck with 2 gold, 1 silver, bishop. He then just skips his turns to let me get all the remaining provinces to tie the match.

Geronimoo - lespeutere 50 - 53
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/25/game-20120325-105435-87fcef3a.html
Only time we have different starting hands. There is workshop and gardens and he mentions having 5/2. I, however, do not think it's such bad as I estimate joat/chapel being faster. So we both start joat/chapel. He commented 'interesting' on my chapel buy in turn 1, I'm not sure whether he still considered going workshop -> gardens with joat assistance. I add a wishing well which helps me get through my deck fast especially in the beginning. I buy one gold and start with provinces then. Although I have less silvers and gold (he buys 2 of his 4 in the final turns) I manage to keep the lead starting with duchies when I have a 3-2 province lead. Then I buy prov 4 and stay in the lead as I stay being able to buy duchies and then gardens when we split duchies 4-4. He's 7 points behind due to an estate buy and without +buy he can't overtake me. He then ends it with 3 remaining estates bybuying the last province.

Thanks to Geronimoo for these games.

Yep, it was. We had kind of agreed to play this weekend but not on a specific time. So I caught him a little off guard. On the other hand, I'm not so sure about doping restrictions for dominion with regards to beer. ;-)
