Hex and Boon Variants

While I enjoy the concept of Hexes and Boons, I find all the effects to be rather tame and don't end up having a huge impact on the gameplay..
Curious if anyone has come up with some more severe hexes / fruitful boons that could raise the stakes of the game?

Here are a couple ideas:
HEX
- Draw cards from your deck until you reveal an action card. Trash 3 from the same Kingdom pile
- Reveal Victory card from hand - trash it and gain a victory card costing 3 less than it.
- Put your NIGHT token on a kingdom pile - that kingdom card is now played in the NIGHT phase.
- Trash a card from your hand - Gain X Curses equal to Cost of trashed card.

BOON
- Draw cards from your deck until you reveal an action/treasure - Gain a copy

- - - -

Also, I mostly play dominion IRL, and the Hexes/Boons slow down the game in an uncomfortable way. I have an idea that changes the way Hexes and Boons are implemented. Instead of playing the card immediately, the Hex/Boon would be added to your discard pile (similar to curses), and when you draw them after reshuffling your deck, you resolve it then. It would not count as one of your 5 cards, but once revealed, you'd resolve it on your turn. Seems like it could help keep the momentum up in the game.

Draw cards from your deck until you reveal an action card. Trash 3 from the same Kingdom pile
Does not hurt you.

Quote
Reveal Victory card from hand - trash it and gain a victory card costing 3 less than it.
Actually a Boon in the opening as it trashes your Estates.
The Saboteur attack is neat but -VPs are kinda already covered by Misery.

Quote
Put your NIGHT token on a kingdom pile - that kingdom card is now played in the NIGHT phase.
Pointless as there is always one Kingdom card of which you have no copies in your decks. And as there could be Actions which you want to play in your Night phase (e.g. a Workshop variant to make it non-terminal), this is actually a Boon.

Quote
Trash a card from your hand - Gain X Curses equal to Cost of trashed card.
Again a Boon early in the game if you trash a Copper, Curse or Ruins.

Quote
Draw cards from your deck until you reveal an action/treasure - Gain a copy
On average (Copper is the only issue) better than the Sea's Gift.

The Hexes and Boons are weak because they're random. Upping their effect would make them too swingy.

I went ahead and made two of them:

This does not work with alt VP (e. g. Gardens, Vineyard ...)

HEX
- Draw cards from your deck until you reveal an action card. Trash 3 from the same Kingdom pile
And at some point, someone will figure out a way to trigger this when they know the Action it will hit is Fortress.

It does; it's just harsher, as there generally won't be a card costing less to gain. Although it's not clear if the intention is to be like Saboteur and allow you to gain a card costing less than less. It should either say "exactly" or "at most".

Correct. It should say 'at most' 3 less than it.

Mercury's gift will hurt players more often than it will help... at the least the gaining should be optional; even then it will often just do nothing as players will choose not to gain.

Updated for Venus's wording: "Reveal cards from your deck until you reveal a victory card. Set it aside for the rest of the game. Discard the other revealed cards." You should avoid having "draw", because then you would be adding the cards to your hand.

Similar for Mars; you don't "draw" Hexes. See wording on Fool. "Take 3 Hexes. Choose one for other players to receive. Return the others."

Jupiter's gift also needs wording updates; as maybe an action card didn't reveal it. It could have been a treasure, like Idol. Or maybe it wasn't revealed, like Druid. Perhaps you meant "the card that caused you to receive this". That could work, though if it was Blessed Village, there are possibly lose-track issues since it was on-gain.

Saturn is just The Forest's Gift, except much stronger.

Jupiter's gift should fit into a timing rule which makes it impossible to sacrifice your opponent's Sacred Grove to gain 2 Gold.

I've added an additional group of HEXES under the Seven Deadly Sins Theme.
NOTE: They're supposed to be somewhat swingy. I think what I enjoy most about Boons and Hexes is that they brought a random-ness/chaos to the game. I want to see how far I can push that.

Wrath

Sloth

Pride

Lust

Gluttony

Envy
