4 cards, pick your favorite

Surveyor
2$ Action
+2 Cards
+1 Action
Each opponent may gain a Treasure

Forgery Fencing
3$ Night - Duration
Gain a Forgery Fencing and set it aside.  If you do, at the start of your next turn, play it as though it were an Action card in the supply.  It is that card until it leaves play.

Publicist
5$ Action - Attack - Duration
Each opponent discards down to two cards in hand then draws a card. At the start of your next turn, +1$.
______________________________________
While this is in play, when a player buys a card, he or she gains a card among the cheapest cards that costs more.

Jayemdae Tome
6$ Action - Night
Spend any number of coin tokens.  +1 card per token spent.
+1 Action
Take two coin tokens.

Surveyor is hard to judge but you can test it in a Surveyor vs money game.

Forgery Fencing looks pretty weak. The effect is nice but you get a "double" dead card into your deck.

The attack is unconditional but Publicist nonetheless looks weak relative to Legionary. The reverse Haggler effect for the opponents looks too good. Buy a Gold, gain a Province. Buy two Ironmongers, gain two Hunting Grounds.

About Jayemdae Tome, converting Coffers into draw is a good idea but in the Night phase it is pretty pointless.

Surveyor looks fun. I've no idea if it is balanced, but it might swing decisions about when to play engines vs money.

I feel that Forgery Fencing is weak enough that it doesn't need the punishment when you trash it.
It should combo well with one-shots (maybe even overpowered with Hireling or Tragic Hero?), but looks unwelcome otherwise.

If I play Publicist and no other player chooses to draw, then it gets discarded at the end of my current turn, right? So the other player(s) should virtually always choose to draw in order to get the 'while this is in play' benefit.

Jayemdae Tome seems way overpriced. I feel there's a joke here that I'm not getting...

If I'm picking my favourite... it might be Forgery Fencing. Should be fun when you find a situation where it's good.

Publicist is weird with Potions and debt.

All cards presented here seem quite weak.

So maybe Forgery Fencing doesn't need the on-trash penalty.

With publicist you should tactically occasionally choose not to discard to deny your opponent their extra turn of "while this is in play" benefit too.  But I'm not convinced there's a cost where publicist is balanced.

Jayemdae Tome I totally miss thought because at first it was a treasure.  I intended it to be nonterminal.  So it was supposed to have +1 Action, so that it's a lab variant.  Which might mean it is ok at 5.

Forgery Fencing could use an "if you do" like Summon. Otherwise it's kind of crazy with Watchtower, and the on-trash penalty doesn't do anything there either.

Does the lose track rule not take care of that?

Lose track would stop it from being moved to the in-play area, but not from it being played. It would just get played from the trash and never move.

Surveyor should be cheaper. In a platinum game it would be to strong for the other players

I don't think you should design around platinum games.

Lots of cards, like all Silver and Gold gainers, are weaker in Platinum games. That’s not a problem.

It says treasure. Platinum is included

I know. Which means it’s weaker in Platinum games. Just like a lot of official cards are. This isn’t a problem.

Surveyor should be more expensive. In a non-Fountain, Bandit Fort game it is nearly (you might gain some Silvers and Golds and later trash them) as good as a Laboratory.

I hope you see now why arguments about card strength that focus on special cases are dubious; the strength of a card is always Kingdom dependent and it makes more sense to focus on the average than special cases (unless the special cases break the card or lead to rule issues).

Yeah, but do you buy it turn 1? Surely you don't.  Turn 3?  Maybe, maybe not?  Turn 5?  The point of it is that it is interesting when you should pull the trigger.  It's possibly not as interesting in the dimension of, "should I buy this card ever this game at all".  It is like Donate in this way.
