Ok, round 3

This will last till Midnight Sunday! (So about 18 hours from now, I think its 7pm forum time)

The Challenge:
The Quickest one to run out 3 piles.
Condition: You are not allowed to buy curses

City,Inn,Village,Council Room,Apprentice,Wharf,Spy,Remodel,Royal Seal,Hoard

Bonus point: This time the bonus isn't secret, you will get an extra point if you run out 4 piles by the last turn. So you will have to balance speed over a bonus

Please put Round 3 - X Turns in the message when you send it to me

Thanks

I was thinking of giving this a try as well as it seems quite fun :). But I noticed your kingdom has 11 cards, so which 1 do you want to remove for the challenge?

Wait, to get the bonus point do you have to run out ALL 4 at the same time, or just run out two or more piles in your last turn?

Have 4 piles empty at the end. (So just need the last two run out on the last turn)

So I'm in a bit of a conundrum at the moment. I've got an X-turn X-1-turn 3 pile log, and an X+1-turn 4 pile log. Which to submit?

Maybe I'll try to get an improvement before submitting either... and Ozle, just to confirm so I don't accidentally miss the deadline, you're in GMT?

Edit: Got a better 3-pile log.

AND THE RESULTS ARE IN!

I decided to pick out the top 10 or 11 as there were a few different strategies!
Fate   12   Estates, Villages, and Remodels   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-194609-cccc7fb8.html
Magnetar   13   Cities, Remodels, and Villages   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-062508-cb348fbe.html
DG   13   Villages, Estates, and Wharves   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/11/game-20120311-075148-e3c2ebd5.html
Thisisnotasmile    13   Villages, Estates, and Wharves   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/11/game-20120311-013308-787fdd90.html
kn1tt3r   14   Estates, Remodels, and Villages    http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-064615-2c451f6f.html
Rabid   15   Remodels, Estates, and Villages   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-100649-8a309f65.html
chwhite   15   Estates, Whaves and Cities   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-135210-2d8c219b.html
jonts26    15   Estates, Wharves, Villages, and Golds   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-182715-81a34321.html
lespeutere   16   Villages, Estates, and Remodels   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-054314-1cc35f5e.html
jtotheonah    17   Villages, Remodels, Estates, and Cities   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-135938-31ca48e5.html
Voltaire   18   Cities, Council Rooms, and Remodels   http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/10/game-20120310-073335-c238ca2d.html

So,
Fate gets 3 points
Magnetar, DG, Thisisnotasmile all get 2 points
kn1tt3r gets 1 point

Bonus points go to jonts26 and jtotheonah  (must be something to do with the J's!)

So current table is:

Fate: 7
Thisisnotasmile: 5
CHWhite: 3
DG: 3
Rabid: 2
Magnetar: 2
Jonts26: 2
Voltaire: 1
Lespute: 1
kn1tt3r  1
jtotheonah  1

So, a small lead opened up for our Solo expert, but still lots to play for!

Next round will be after I finish work tomorrow (so about 7pm GMT)

Very interesting how many different ways people went with their solutions.

I would think that the wharf engine would be quite a bit more reliable (consistently clearing 3 piles quickly) than the remodelling method, but there is more opportunity to take advantage of good shuffle luck when remodelling.  The key buys for me were the council rooms so I could draw my remodels and play as many of them as possible every turn.

I had two 13 turn solutions that only needed to take one card from the supply on turn 13, and the one I didn't submit was like Fate's. I also had similar results through a number of variations, including hoard, so I expect 12 turns is possible through a number of methods with excellent draws. The more risk you take on the draws the better the potential results and the more time you need to spend ditching all the games with bad, average, and less than perfect draws. Fate's solution opened remodel/village and still bought an essential council room on turn 4.

You should give jonts a second bonus point for running out a Treasure pile!

Glad I submitted my 13 turn log now, but as nobody submitted one like this here's my 4-pile 15 turn log:

Congrats Fate, was wondering if 12 turns was possible but didn't even think to get Estates as 1 of the 3 piles :). Looking forward to next round. Btw I'm not on the score table yet.

Well I knew this probably wasn't going to be the fasted solution, but I decided 4 piles was more fun so I just focused on that. And hey, I'll take fastest 4 pile. But basically, I figured wharves, villages and estates had to go. And you only need 4 hoards in play to drain the golds while draining the estates, so it should be the cheapest 4th pile to empty.
