Coffer vs Coin with -1 Coin Adventure token

When a player has the -1 coin token, when a player gains a +1 Coffer does that remove -1 Coin Token?
My guess is no as 'Coffers' are not 'Coins' (note: if playing with 1st edition use of 'Coin token' cards (aka Baker) does this ruling still stand?  Is is possible to have this clarified in the FAQ section?
-Thanks

Yes, paying a Coffers generates +1 Coin, it says this right on the mat even. thus it would remove the token and result in no net change to total coins.

That's not quite what DooWopDJ asked.

Taking +1 Coffers, i.e. putting a token on the Coffers mat, simply does exactly that. It does not immediately remove the -$1 token.

Your buy phase has two sub-phases: spend-treasures and make-purchases. You may play Coffers for +$1 each during your spend-treasures sub-phase.

If you play a Coffers while you have your -$1 token, the two cancel out: you remove the Coffers token; you remove the -$1 token; you get no spending money.

But you're never forced to play Coffers, just because you have your -$1 token. You could instead get rid of it through other means, or keep it until a later turn.

Getting a coffer has no interaction whatsoever with the - token. Spending a coffer is exactly like playing a Copper or a Market, it's a way of getting + to spend this turn. If you have your - token when you play a Copper, or play a Market, or spend a coffer, then you will lose your - token and get no to spend.
