Solo Challenge 2 - The Road to Victory

So, next round and a new challenge.

Condition: First to 80 Victory Points AND end the game.

The Kingdom shall consist of
Gardens, Duke, Harem, Nobles, Remake, Fairgrounds, Bridge, Spice Merchant, Scheme, Cache.

There will be a BONUS point (ooooohhhh I hear you say) for anyone whose deck meets the secret criteria to be announced at the end!

This kingdom is designed obviously for the alternate victory cards, and to prevent just an obvious rush on Provinces but hopefully there are more than one viable way to win!

Well I am not competing in this (I'm just not much of a solitaire player), but if I were, I would very much like to know the secret criteria beforehand. It seems unfair that some people will get extra points for something that is not really under their control at the moment.

Wouldn't be much a secret criteria if I let people know beforehand.....

If I let people know it they would just submit entries that met the criteria and had no chance of winning guarenteeing them a point.

Its basically a way of people who are not going to be at the top all the time get a few points and feel involved, I would be extremely surprised if it put people far far ahead.

Are we allowed to submit simulator logs or do they have to be from iso?

Well I've got a better log from a real game than from the sim at the moment, but I figured it would be quicker to open and close sim logs to try to get a better one with the same strategy than to play more games with the same strategy. Back to iso I go then... Although I can't see me getting a better score than I've already got with this strat and I can't think of anything that would be obviously faster...

(Sim says I'm already 2+ turns better than average for my strat ;))

Real games only!

Tried to make this one a non-simulator challenge for thoseof us who dont use them. Also I think it helps me learn if I actually play the game rather than look at results as i'll never be better than a sim.

Anyways, forgot to put closing time, which is midnight tonight! (My time, which is in about 6 hours, or shortly afterwards if im still in the pub!)

Interesting. By playing a few times, I was able to cut 6 turns off my initial try, but I have no idea if it's the best strategy. Anyway, my submission's in!

Sorry, wouldnt be fair on the people already submitted if I gave an extension!

However, next time I percieve one as 'hard' I shall give extra time.

15 minutes left for entries!

Ok....times up! and the results are in!

First off, honourable mention to Fate, who originally submitted 29 turns, but came back later with 25, but I did say only one entry.

Ok, so in third place, gaining 1 point:

We have a TIE!
Jonts26 and Lespute with 28 Turns
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/08/game-20120308-173329-88adf012.html
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/09/game-20120309-063528-631ee69f.html
Well done

In Second place, gaining a mighty 2 points:
Thisisnotasmile with 27 turns
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/09/game-20120309-094816-9479e2e4.html

and waay out in first gaining the 3 points was
*drumroll*
CHWhite with 24 turns!
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201203/08/game-20120308-191535-5a309d51.html

So now we have the matter of the bonus points.....and this round the secret bonus point went to anyone who submitted an entry that didn't use gardens at all!
So a bonus point for Fate, thisisnotasmile and Voltaire!

So the table looks like this so far:

Fate: 4
CHWhite: 3
Thisisnotasmile: 3
Rabid: 2
Voltaire: 1
Jonts26: 1
Lespute: 1
DG: 1

Ok, what do people think? Another one tomorrow that lasts the whole weekend?

Heh. I thought the bonus was going to be for having at least one of each green card or something along those lines, was not expecting that at all. Also surprised so few people got the bonus points. I figured there was no point going for Provinces as that wasn't getting anywhere near 80 points, so it was a case of getting enough points and emptying three piles. Duchy/Duke together gave enough points and two piles, so it seemed like the obvious route to go, and Cache looked like an obvious candidate for the third.

Having said that, well done CHWhite!

Nevermind; it's just that there have been quite some people misspelling it and I just don't see any reason why misspell specifically mine.. ;-)
