Solo Challenge 1

So I thought about a challenge, whereby I post a set of Kingdom cards and people go off and play with them and try to win in the shortest amount of turns in a solo game.

After a set time limit they send me thier quickest game number of turns, and the log and winner gets the point. (If its a draw on turns its whoever sends me the result quickest).

The key thing is, its not one of these 'assuming perfect shuffle luck' or simulator, you actually have to play the game the way Donald X intended.

I would suggest people limit themselves to just three games, but thats not really enforceable so probably a bad idea.

What do people think?

*EDIT* As well as set Kingdom cards there will also of course be a Victory Condition

Fun idea.

How did you choose this set? It seems some of the cards serve no purpose (gardens, fairgrounds).
The rules say we just have to buy 8 provinces. Does this preclude trashing them?

I chose this set just as an easy starter set, its a bit big money-ish as a nice opener, but there are options there for Action heavy.

On of the things I like doing is using a set of 10, and then playing again a different way see if I can better my time, tis challenge has come out of that.

The VP cards were pretty much filler so I only needed to pick 8 cards.

Now the idea is up and running and I have had a few entries in already (which were all quicker than my first attempt!) once this one is done I shall launch another more thoughtful set of cards.

And the conditions say you need to buy all 8 provinces. Once you have them whatever you do with them is up to you. (this may not be a case in further challenges)

Slight change. Draws wont be settled by quickest one to send me an entry, bit unfair on people who work different hours. WIll give out one point to each of quickest and keep a score table somewhere

Rule suggestion: One entry per person.

That way, if you submit a try you're locked into it. No submitting one, trying again later and doing better so submitting that one too.

Well, I assumed people would only enter once anyways. Thats why I have the results in secret and a time limit, but yeah, may as make that official

neat things in the winning entry that I didn't think of: using Princess to remake coppers into villages, using all those villages to power up Diadem. (I had written Diadem off as not worth picking up)

Been following dominionstrategy.com since the summer, but haven't felt the need to post anything till now.  I don't play against opponents on isotropic, but I play a lot of solitaire games at work to optimize my strategies for real life games.

I knew I needed to get the coppers and estates out of my deck so I could pair up my tournaments with provinces, but I didn't want to sacrifice the buying power I needed for multiple province turns.  So remaking them into villages to power up diadem seemed to be the best way to go.

Excellent challenge. I quite enjoyed it.
