Guess: The word must contain at least one of the letter determined by the length of the word. (1=a, 2=b... 26=z, 27=a, etc.)

I thought so much about letters as numbers in relation to the length of the word, and especially about how you could formulate a rule that would work only for a (among 1-letter words) but somehow this didn't occur to me. Really cool rule, too.

Yes, this correct!

(at first it was just going to be the first letter, so cab YES, abc, NO. But I thought there would be so many NOs that it would actually be even easier. So I audibled at last minute to be anywhere in the question.)

And, of course, just punctation had to contain the 0th letter, which I decided mean they were a YES.

Did you count the really long ones out yourself, or did you copy paste them into a letter counter, out of curiosity?

I counted. :) It helped that I usually just had to count 1, and then just add or subtract 1 at a time...
