Say, is it at all imaginable that you chose a way of distinguishing yes and no just based on a few specific symbols being in the sentence?
To be more particular, could it be that they're a character and another character, one of which didn't appear here, the other not above?

I suggest a rule that only read words or commonly known names are allowed. Then a) we can have rules based on syllables, and b) it just seems more fun. What do you guys think about this?

Regardless, I have a rule.

Are you sure that’s such a good idea?
What if it goes horribly wrong?
Could it make it more enjoyable?
Do we absolutely have to?
Why can’t we make rules about syllables now?
Is this a rule about syllables?
Does the question need a three syllable word to be yes?
Is this no?
Is a question with the word syllable a yes?
Will you answer all of these questions?
Have I asked too many?
Can someone please help me stop?
Do I have much better things to be doing?
Am I woefully behind on my Christmas shopping?
Am I also behind on work?
Is this enough to solve your rule?

Another advantage of that is that people can make rules based on parts of speech?
As well as pronunciation-based things other than just syllables, like long or short vowel sounds?
Maybe the more general principle is that there are more well-defined qualities of English words than there are of general strings?
But people might be tempted to make rules that get into gray areas?

How about the problem that arises when English pronunciation isn't uniform everywhere in the world and some words can even have a varying number of syllables depending on the dialect?

(probably rare enough that I wouldn't worry about it)
