Sir Martin. All the rest require cost reduction, in which case there's probably already a different card that you'd rather inherit. This isn't quite true if there are no villages and your cost reduction is Bridge -- I could see the case for Sir Bailey or Dame Molly there -- but it's true for Highway at least. That said, this isn't a choice you're often confronted with; even with cost reduction, you can only inherit the top Knight of the stack. And Highway-Knights games are already rather crazy with or without Inheritance...

It should be pretty obvious that Dame Natalie is the best knight to inherit.

Definitely Sir Martin.

To Inherit anything else, you need to build enough economy to spend $7 and invest in cost-reduction. Trying to do both in the early game is going to mess you up.

If you do ignore all other considerations and focus on Inheriting a Knight, you should inherit whichever is on the top of the pile when the opportunity arises. If you wait, how soon will you have another opportunity, and what are you going to do with your hobbled deck in the meantime?

You can't inherit Night cards, only Action cards.

I'm thinking how are these people not seeing the interaction.

I was thinking, "Surely that depends on what $3s are available... oh."

I’m not sure how good that interaction is. As a terminal; I don’t think it would be that great to gain one every time you play one. If Viillage or another $3 village is available, then I could see it being pretty good.

That was exactly my thought process too. I was like sir bailey is the best to inherit since its a cantrip and it is easy to stack but then I was like wait a second dame natalie is the best one to inherit.

That's a good point. I like you're thinking, but you can just buy a bunch of villages before you do inheritance.

If Village is available, surely you wouldn’t need to buy a bunch before inheriting... you can alternate your Estate plays between gaining Village and gaining Estates.

Following Chase's logic wouldn't Martin still be the best Knight to Inherit? Because if you can Inherit Natalie there must be cost reduction available, so aside from Quarry it should be easy for Estates to cost $0 so each Sir Martin would represent 2 additional gains of Sir Martins. Or are we assuming that in addition to all this other stuff going on you can overdraw enough and have enough actions to gain and play all the Estates in one turn?

Okay, so I'm going to put aside the cost and randomness problems and just answer this as: Which ability would you most want  your Estates to have?

Bailey, by a country mile.

Not only will it not take up space, but being able to chain that many Knight attacks together will absolutely annihilate the other guy's deck.

Molly and Destry would be a distant second and third, respectively, useful only if there's no other villages or draw, again respectively.

It's hard to see why Natalie would be a good idea. You don't normally want your deck full of weak terminal gainers. I guess it's a neat interaction with Gardens or Silk Road: Not only can you get more Estates, but there would have to be cost reduction so you'd also be able to get Gardens and Silk Roads with your Natalies. So that niche use would put Natalie in fourth place.

The others are absolute garbage things to inherit, only good for screwing around in Lord Rattington games.

That's smart. I also noticed the same interaction with Sylvia. Since she gives +2coins you can always gain an estate. But Natalie is still better because you gain it for free. With Martin and Sylvia you have to buy it. Also Sylvia is better than Martin because if you have an estate and four provinces you will have 3 buys but 0 coins so you still can't get an estate, but with Sylvia you will always have at least 2 coins.
