Is Bane a card type?

I play Courtier, and reveal Merchant, which is Bane.
Do I choose 1 or 2?
Does Young Witch add a card type like Inheritance?
How about Split like Castles?

Split isn't a card type. It's written there on shuffle it so you remember that there's a second card halfway through it. For similar reasons, Bane isn't a card type, it's written on dominion online so you know Young Witch picked that pile.

And as for why the word Bane exists, it's just there so Young Witch can refer to it easily.

Card types are defined as the words written on the bottom of the actual card. Other words that describe cards are not card types. Obviously no card has “Bane” written on it as a card type, and no card has the word “split” written on it on the bottom.

The labels on the card previews online, while they are written in the same font as the stuff on he bottom of a card, are just reminder labels.

I can confirm that "Bane" is not a card type. I asked this same question lo these many years ago.
