So that was maybe the best 10 pages of D1 I've ever read, and sorry it took that long for me to get involved. This last week before Thanksgiving has left me with basically one--
maybe two--chances per day to be online, and hadn't had time to compile thoughts yet.
Some of these may be redundant or something, but I'm saying what I think anyway.
I disagree with Ash that faust's answer to that question was a problem or confirmed pps as town. pps very well could have been lying in such a way as to not contradict the game mechanics.
I did not bid on slot 3.
I think iguana has been towny, and I agree with his thoughts about the utility of claiming slot 3. I don't see anyway scum doesn't target that slot, and with their ability to coordinate, are at least somewhat more likely to win it, pending their luck with draft order.
I read the penalty item setup the same way Awaclus did, and could see him thinking that he would be more to likely to force scum to take the shirt.
Awaclus has been more verbose this game than most I've been in with him recently, but they haven't been RMM, so I don't know if this is actually normal for him or not in RMM games as he claimed. I did like his contributions though, and if they were from anyone other than him I would probably be townreading them. Since it is him, slightly town side of null.
Space didn't have the best entrance to the game with the RVS-y type of vote on Haddock, but the explanation of it is plausible. It wasn't a kind of stunt that I remember Space ever really trying to pull, so it could just be making up a reason after the fact.
Sword stick is confirmed broken. It doesn't exist in the game AFAICT. That's a good thing, right?

I think the obvious thing to do here is that e tells PPS who to kill at the EoD and PPS kills that person.
Kind of looks bad to me. It's as if silver was giving a way that pps could use the sword stick (knowing that he was scum and still could) in a way that would look towny for listening. Later, he says:
Finally vote: PPS
Oh, look, yes, I did bid slot 3. I was draft order #2. I got what I bid on.
This is what one calls a scumslip.
and
PPS is scum, got #2, decided to go for the Vig to help his team. He received the stick, as hoped for, and will use it at some point. When the claiming for the stick came up, he truthfully claimed it, not realizing that his receiving of the item would differ from the way town would have received it
yes
but shortly after that he backtracks with:
PPS seems almost deliberately uninvested in setup theory. I'm willing to believe he screwed that up.
Really, all that happened between the two were people agreeing that Ash's hypothetical were possible and that it was at least somewhat suspicious, including WW. But then WW says something to the effect of sometimes people mess up, and the next post is silver giving pps the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure what to make of it, but it's weird.
Actually hold on, there is another angle to this we haven't talked about yet (or I overread it).
If this is the highest value scum role, then scum should want it. Therefore, if town does not have position 1, then it is implausible for PPS to have gotten the item.
I propose that whoever is position 1 in the draft should claim now. It seems low drawback / high information value.
How is knowing who got slot 1 low drawback? If position 1 is scum, they would have most likely gotten slot 3 (unless they decided to play everything the way they would play town so they wouldn't have to lie) and pps wouldn't have got the stick. If this were the case, the pps would be lying about that, which means scum got position 1 and 2. This doesn't seem super likely to me, which means town most likely got slot 1. And if they had gone for slot 3, they would have counterclaimed pps at this point.
That last paragraph may not make much sense, but it basically points to a draft 1 claim right now basically just outs--most likely--town who won a good item. This would be info that scum wants. Either to kill or to steal items, depending on what their capabilities actually are.
