I don't believe items that players start with are "given" to them. I believe they simply start with them. That is, I do not think this item would be unusable by a town player who started the game with it. I don't believe 1-shot Vig is a scum only power. I think the framing of it thusly is scummy, and I think PPS is playing off that. --- Basically, I agree with Ash:

I actually think the stick description is a theory sentence.  I feel that the immediately broken part referred to if it was given by a player to a town player part — not assigned by the mod.

So then, I’d say PPS lied just now to cover for something he misunderstood after rereading.

I think Chairs is claiming that he asked, and they are in fact considered "given" at the beginning.

As Haddock can verify as well, the Sword Stick came from our RMM, and was a purchasable item that only scum could begin the game with. That's kind of broken for an item that anyone of any faction can bid on, so I feel like if I was modding this I'd have allowed non-scums to bid on it, but not to receive it in a usable manner.

That I am town and thought I could use it is probably bad but whatever. Why would a bid-able 1 shot Vig be broken if available to any alignment? It's an incredibly common role.

I did think ash was voting me. At any rate, if you are going to vote me go through the effort of confirming with faust yourself if town receives sword stick from a bid if it would be broken upon receipt.
I played that RMM, I think, and the sword stick was intended to be a scum only 1-shot vig power there. I thought it would not arrive broken but I was wrong as anyone can independently confirm. If that is the basis for your vote it's a bad vote for lack of due diligence. This sort of posturing only confirms I am not automatically a bad guy for thinking it would be a good thing for town to have and scum not thus a good thing to bid for if my chances of getting it were high (as they were). That it is broken and thus not in the game isn't terribly bad for us, either.

I think you misunderstand me here.

My "broken" was referring to the condition that it had to be a scum-only-biddable item. As in, the idea that only scum will be offered the chance to purchase the item is not going to work in a game where all of the players bid on items (so the condition is "broken"), so I think it's fair and expected that members of either/any faction could bid on it.

The consequence of this is just that I feel that pushing for PPS's lynch solely because he has/had the stick is probably not a great direction without additional evidence.

It's fine. Haddock doesn't have a big wagon already, and this way scum gets more choices to try to creep onto, except chances are they're then left trying to defend a weird vote when I move mine to somewhere useful, since the prior for Haddock being town is at chance (whatever that is), especially given his low posting history.

It's still a bad vote. I could vote for anybody at any point based on that logic. We're past that. RVS is useful during it's time, but once there's stuff going on it's negative utility on the game.

Further, the tone of your post suggests you feel strongly Haddock is town. Do you feel this way?
