I absolutely love that Wishes are absurdly powerful yet cost $0. It's gloriously heartbreaking to struggle and suffer to get your precious Wish only to have a Swindler trash it for a Curse because it's worth nothing to him.

Like Tournament prizes (other than Duchies) and unlike Heirlooms or Travellers. I think the reason is that in a Leprechaun/Swindler or Tournament/Swingler kingdom, you'd have to take a possible swindle into account and take the risk, whereas you cannot choose your Heirloom. As for Travellers, the design decision is not as clear to me but I think it also helps a bit with the mnemonics of the traveller ladder.

Counterfeit let's you double-spend your money, it even gives you two buys instead of your normal one. That's exactly how you counterfeit cryptocurrency.

A bit anachronistic, perhaps, but I think it works ;)

To mix things up, how about the cards/combos whose flavor is delightfully wonky, compared to the ones that are home runs?

What cards do you guys like for the mental gymnastics you have to do to make sense of them?

I feel this way about Duchess. You get to choose whether to gain a Duchess when you gain a Duchy. So, was she running the Duchy as an independent state before I incorporated it into my kingdom, and now she swears fealty to me? Some kind of fealty that is when she also helps everyone else!

Whereever there's an Ironworks there's likely to be a Mining Village, a Smithy and an Ironmonger.

we came across a wonky flavor to a combo yesterday.

you can scheme your schemes on a conspirator board to always have conspirators be active...

The flavor of the interaction, is you have a bunch of people scheming, but never doing anything...except riling up the random conspirators when they show up at the meetings, who actually go out to get things done...

schemer 1: this is an outrage someone should do something about this!
schemer 2: yeah, someone has to stand up to the man!
conspirator: YEAH LET'S GO!  LEEEEROOOOY JENKINGS! (runs from the room)
schemer 2: same time next week?
schemer 1: yeah, don't forget it'll be your turn to to bring the snacks.

It's all the sadder when you don't find any conspirators.

(edit: lol, my member title is conspirator right now)

Guides, Hunting Parties, lead to Gold at Tunnels

Nearly all the cards involving royalty allow you to perform additional effects

Nearly all the cards involving land gets you pts.

Hunting Parties are not particularly good at skipping Tunnels for Gold.
