Ohhhh... my love... my darlin'...

-How powerful is this?
-What are the best things to gain with this?
-How does this compare to Altar and Count in terms of late-game Duchy gaining?
-How does this compare to Transmogrify in terms of same-turn gain-and-play?

I just love some hand-crafted Minions.

Centuries later, archaeologists discover the remains of your ancient civilization.

Evidence of thriving towns, Pottery, roads, and a centralized government amaze the startled scientists.

Finally, they come upon a stone tablet, which contains but one mysterious phrase!

'ISOTROPIC WILL RETURN!'

-How powerful is this?
Mediocre. It's clearly pretty bad in money games (think Explorer), but you might want to get a with good $5 Treasures. Engines can make use of it, but it's only really good when you can play a Village beforehand (which takes some time to set up), so you don't really want to get it with your first $6.

-What are the best things to gain with this?
Seems quite nice with Horn of Plenty. It can be a super-terminal +4VP with Distant Lands. And of course there's cost reducton stuff.

-How does this compare to Altar and Count in terms of late-game Duchy gaining?
Well, if you have Artisan, there is probably a strong engine, and the game won't end in Duchy-dancing. Also you can always gain a card you can play, which will be mostly better than gaining a Duchy.

-How does this compare to Transmogrify in terms of same-turn gain-and-play?
The use is completely opposite: Transmogrify is good when you need to set up your engine, i.e. early on, and possibly really late for points and piling out. Artisan is strongest in the midgame.

Artisan is absurdly powerful. If you have a board with a bunch of Actions (Port / Fishing Village), Artisan can accelerate your engine very quickly with almost any component you need at the moment. Even if you are out of actions you can just put something back for next turn. One of the best new cards, clearly. Great with Hunting Party lol

Artisan is really good. Gaining 5 costs too hand is really really good. The downside isn't always a downside because when you play without an action you can topdeck your engine component.

Artisan is quite good. I think that the in-hand gaining and topdecking make it more powerful than altar overall.

Early/midgame it can gain engine components while setting up draws for the next turn. Later in the game, it transitions naturally into picking up duchies.
